This one's not a winner. HostIt.com would be quite good. But not as a .TV.

Yeah, the extension kills this name

I did delete it shortly after I bought it, I thought it might be a good domain name to get. I am frustrated with trying to figure out how to find a valuable domain name. I see people all the time sell valuable domains on Sedo and Flippa and it is frustrating not being able to figure out how get one myself.

I understand your frustration Dave. I started out trying to 'flip' domains, and I failed. But I started to put Wordpress blogs on my crap regs.... To this day they make $500 a month from them....not great, but something!

After I got slapped by the Penguin update, I figured out how to make money from paid traffic and other sources. This is more money than SEO could give me...

So keep at it...expand your knowledge and approach!!!! This will make you rich....

I guess I am not alone in trying to figure out the domain industry. Where do you get the knowledge from, that is what I want to know. Yes, there are some blogs out there, but they do not go in depth on how to pick a good domain name or what might be worth buying and holding onto.

Thanks

It's complicated, for one thing. There is no single rule to follow that won't sometimes steer you wrong. Instead there are thousands of different considerations.

Plus, people with a good strategy would face tougher competition if they told people exactly what they do.

Be patient. Spend more time reading, researching, and studying.

Pay close attention to what sells, how it was sold, and why it appealed to buyers.

When you're first starting out, don't gamble on something you hope somebody might want. Pick domains that are INEVITABLY going to be developed -- domains that you're surprised aren't already websites about the topic they name.

One thing I can tell you for sure.....no one that I know that makes a lot of money has achieved it from their first endeavor.

They have all evolved and tried different stuff. This is how I made my money.....

Yeah, the extension kills this name

It's not the extension that kills the name, but what is before the extension that kills it as it doesn't make sense with .tv & isn't a good quality keyword.

I wouldn't concentrate on new reg's, unless there is some type of new fad you may be able to monetize. The majority of my money has been made from drop catching geo domains or domains that may have some brand potential, then pounding the pavement and contacting potential end users. Also I wouldn't waste money on non .com's.

Thanks guys for your help and input. Domain investing is something you cannot just jump into and expect to make money as I have learned the hard way.
