Home server, with DNS?

ok i know there was a previous post similar to this.

I have a server setup and it works, and i use myserver.org to point to it with my domain. heres the question. I want to do my own dns, so I can have namerservers and control everything. the reason being is id like to give my friends free hosting and do some other stuff with it. is it possible to do that? how would i do that?



and yes, i like to do things the hard way, thats the best way to learn, right?

im not sure if u would be able to set up ur own .com's from ur own pc but u would need at least window2000 server (best get saving) or use linux if it supports it

im not sure how the hole thing works but i hope u have the bandwith

thats what im using, linux. no way im gonna use windows. Im not worried about the bandwidth, my sites nor my friends would attract alot of traffic, so that doesn't worry me

Thanks for those links. I was planning on using BIND anyway, just beacuse it came with my distro.
