Hiren Patel posted on X that he sold HealthStrategy.com for $100,000. What was nice was Hiren provided a series of posts breaking down the whole sales process. A good read for newbies and veterans alike. Congrats to Hiren

Also another reminder of how these appraisals constantly devalue (even when a sale already occurred via their own platform).

During negotiation, stay calm, stand firm and act professionally. Sometimes the best response is no response. When the time comes to speak - reiterate why the domain represents a sound investment and reference similar sales.

I was able to find that Marilyn was the CEO of the company that used the domain name for over 20 years, and they didn’t change the website until it expired or was sold.

I wonder what happened that led them to lose the domain. One source says she died in 2018, but on the other hand, she posted a comment on LinkedIn in 2019.

So, GoDaddy appraises HealthStrategy.com for $8,336, and it sells for $100,000.
Appraise.net appraised HealthStrategy.com for 60K-120K.
Can anyone explain how Appraise.net nailed it, while GoValue is riding the short bus?
Appraise.net has been incredibly accurate. GoDaddy should license or acquire it.

If not GoDaddy, at least another domain registrar could license or buy it.

GoDaddy almost entirely controls the Public's perception of domain name value.
They've said they're revamping GoValue, but they haven't set a completion date.
By acquiring Appraise.net, they could solve the problem in one fell swoop.

Do you have a subscription to Appraise.net?

If so, could you please share the full results for HealthStrategy.com?

I’m curious to see their breakdown.

Domain names are not like cars and you should not believe in appraisal.
For the same name:
- Namepros members will buy it for $5
- Individual $50
- Small company $500
- Medium company $5,000
- Large company $5,000,000

The reason that Godaddy appraisal is low because they appraise for Namepros members.

It’s costly.

They do have a demo, but it would be nice to actually give it a spin.
What do you reckon would be a fair price point for something like this? I developed something locally that works well, toyed with building into a saas for quite a while but not sure if its worth my while.

I do agree that its unwise to pin too much on automated appraisals, but as part of a wide range of metrics they are worth consulting to some degree.

Hard question.

Personally, I can’t afford $10 per name.

Though it does get cheaper in bulk.

Great story. Would have preferred if it wasn't written using AI and would probably have been much more concise too, but either way it's a masterclass in negotiation, not to mention a counterpoint to the prevailing impression of GoDaddy/Afternic domain brokers being incompetent.

True. What I also like is how Hiren is so positive. In the dev world (and sometimes also in the domain world) negative speech and attitudes can creep in. Nice to see someone doing so well whilst remaining professional and respectful.

Selling at max potential value not only requires perfect timing but also needs super cool nerves.

To sell a domain at $100k you have to turn down a $50k offer first.
