Anyone have a sense of what the highest paying cpc categories / keywords are? Thinking of retooling some of my parked names...

Many thanks!

How do these work? If you have one of those words in your domain you get paid that amount per ad click?

Google bots scan your webpage, and that controls what goes in the adverts by the supposed relevancy, however there is a downside to the highest paying adverts, and that is that there may only be one or two clicks per day if you're lucky. (Thats globally, not from your site)

And the $50 is the maximum you may see on these pages that show advert cost, the reality is that more than likely the ad cost will be much lower as it is based on individual bidding.

It may be true that someone could bid $50, but I could bid $5 if I wished :p

This page written by someone far more knowledgeable than me will help you figure it all out :)

When you see those lists of high bid prices, you need to realize that:

1) Those are search network bids. Bids on the content network (which is what you display as Adsense) are lower.

2) Those are the top advertiser bids. Put 3 blocks of Adsense on a page, and by the time you get to the last ad in the last ad block the bid may be far less.

3) If your account doesn't produce conversions for advertisers, they won't be billed top dollar to advertise on your site.

So the reality is usually much lower. And, the search engine competition is high. You do better overall picking a moderately priced topic with less competition.

50c-$1 clicks tend to be the sweet spot I find, I do most of my best work in this range.

Also I should probably point out that a spam blog, one that simply takes all posts from everywhere else and is not actually worthwhile will get useless clicks, not earning you a penny. (in theory)

Sites like Law.com that are owned by lawyers and actually convert well will get the high value clicks.

Lawyers are not going to pay $50 for someone who is not serious, they will reserve the high paying adverts for those that perform for them :)

For High payout clicks, just use your common sense as a guide.

For example, sports news is low CPC because it doesn't sell anything and viewers don't convert. Sports viewers don't click even if there was a CPC. On this note, stay away from stuff people don't buy, only browse. For example, people looking for pictures of things usually aren't buying anything. There might still be a decent CPC but it's usually diluted.

In contrast, something that has a high profit margin will give you a high CPC and more clicks.

Specific topics within the Software and Loans niches is a good place to look. I say look because you're going to have to search for something specific that isn't overcrowded. Web Hosting is damn near impossible but also high CPC.

Someone had it right when they said look at the $0.50 - $1.50 range. Solid clicks that will keep you monetized and aren't hard to get.

As for everything else, use Google's AKT and your common sense. High dollar products and services that can be and are bought online with regularity are money. Note that even with a high bid, you're only going to average 25-40% of the that.

Also beware that some niches naturally get more clicks than others. This helps in cashing.

It's frustrating to get a site optimized and getting tons of traffic only not to have people click.

I dont see any of the car companies on the lists of high cpc. I would think they would be good on the ad side.
Wouldnt NuclearCars.com have a good cpc if the companies sold nuclear cars?
Still learning here...thanks for input.
