I have done some outbound. Thank you @NADAMS and @maksimfa for the encouragement. I am struggling on a few levels. Which is great because I have an end user waiting on me to get back with her.

I believe domains are like beauty! There is the beauty in the eyes of the beholder and then a sense of universal beauty. Same with domains. Some domains get double takes at the mall regardless. Some domains are beautiful to specific end users. Google 20 years ago would have been not worth reg fee according to NP members. Most of them anyways!

The end user is a small company in a niche market. One of my soap names!! I can't find any financial info on the company. I can see what she charges for her soap. I have since found there are a lot of soap businesses. A lot! So I'm struggling with what the value is. I am struggling with a small business owner's finances. My name shortens her name and quite frankly kicks ass. Can I say ass? If not sorry!

So if you can follow my line of thinking, which is tough I know! I'm trying to determine the universal and specific value of my domain. BoysSoap king.
If you happen to think reg fee in this case you are wrong! This business may only pay 5XX or less. But if it is worth more even if it takes time I don't want to sell it for 5XX. Clearly if 8XX is ceiling I'll flip for 5XX at this point. Make sense?

Valuation has just as much to do with the likelyhood of a sale as it does to the value itself.

Cars.com - worldwide value, short, universal, anyone would kill to own it

Usedcars.com - also universal, however it excludes new cars, but still very coveted

SanAntonioUsedCars.com - not a bad name, but only useful to dealerships in San Antonio and a few domainers. Not exactly a liquid name

For most sensible domain names, the value is dependent greatly on the likelyhood of a sale. This is most evident in brandable names. You can scoop up names here on NP for $20 and stick them on brandbucket, and then it's just a game of musical chairs hoping yours gets bought.

"A name is worth what someone is willing to pay for it" but finding that one special person is the hard part

I would say give her a low prices just to get a sale under your belt. That will build up your confidence for others.

You can pm me the name for more details.

Most soap companies are at home folks, so I doubt you can ask thousands and get it.

Well she declined the offer! I may not get all that I want, but my guess is she would have paid no more than $200

When you look at what is selling and for how much, it's clear that the vast majority of domain sales are below $2,000. If you hand reg a domain or buy a domain for 20 or 30 bucks, ten times your investment within the first year is not a bad return.

If a domain is a single word, then you might have a bigger sale, but if it's not a liquid domain or a single dictionary word that is used, you should consider ten or twenty times your money a very good day.
