I got a proposal to sell a domain name I just caught a few days ago that I was planning on developing into a mini site. He wanted to know my asking price and he says he has $xxx, xxx to buy 20-30 domains. He works for a company in the UK. How do I go about this? I always had to tear tooth and nail to find someone to sell a domain to, yet this guy apparently has come to me within days!! I'm excited and scared at the same time.

What do I do?

Sounds like that scam mail going around for years. First off, who would tell you their budget in a pre-negotiation state?

That's the problem, I don't know if it's a scam or for real. He listed a legit company name, and how do I go about all this?

Check his email address, what domain he is using. keyword-keyword-keyword.info would not be used by a serious buyer.

Its a scam, as soon as they say they have xxx,xxx for 20-30 names, you know its a fishy

Another sign is you have only had the name a few days, what are the chances of that

Ask them if they want an appraisal at a company of their choice and see what they say

Yes yes! It comes from web-hosting-solution.info which I immediately found suspicious.. The domain redirects to 123-reg.co.uk/ which seems to be a legit business. But any domain can redirected anywhere... Thanks for your help!

This is obviously a scam, which thanks to you guys, I have read up on. I am going to throw him a curve ball and ask for $500. Now he wont be able to use the trick of "must get an appraisal for greater than $1000" in order to list the domain for sale on a market. Will post back with results LOL.

If anyone else wants some live entertainment, give me ideas of how to lead this scammer on/waist his time, etc.
