I believe I posted this in the wrong place at first (design discussion rather than development) and havn't had much luck so I guess I'll try here.
I'm having trouble figuring out what to quote a client. Basically, their site/design is already up and operational. What they want is to go from a handcoded html product catalogue to a php/mysql database driven one which they can edit from an administrative panel. They would need to fully be able to control price, description, as well as the form based shopping cart system (cart32) would need to be generated. It would also need to be quite modular as their products range greatly in size, uniqueness, and price. Some items they won't want a price and some they will. There will also need to be sub-items for many products as certain things will come in many different sizes, etc. Each product would have one to several photos which would need to be watermarked automatically.
The other thing they need (from one centralized interface) is to be able to upload and manage their photos. This would need to be installed from scratch as their current one has a signifigant browser incompatability.
I would also be importing approx. 150 products from their old gallery to the new one along with 300-400 pictures total to the new system.
One final question: Would a SSL Certificate be required for this sort of an interface? That is, for something where no client records (cc info, name, etc as that is all done offsite through the shopping cart) are stored/entered but prices for products which can be purchased automatically online along with descriptions and the like can be edited. These guys have a very profitable business and do quite well financially.
