Heya,

Recently, I've started monetizing my unused domains by developing minisites and relying on AdSense for revenue. As I am new to SEO, it was only natural that some of my sites would do better than others. What surprised me, however, is that I managed to get one of my sites on page 1 of MSN search results. Now, I know that manipulating MSN isn't exactly difficult, but what baffles me is that I have no idea how I did that in the first place!

Understand my predicament - after all, I know that I did something right, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is and how to repeat my "success".

So, would a kind soul please have a look at my website (dietreviews.info) and let me know why exactly it is featured on page 1 of MSN search for "diet reviews"?

Thanks,
G_C

your page design is pretty good seo-wise but i think you could go higher.

I think your meta description is too long, which reduces the keyword density, i would say a description of 20-30 words is optimal also try to get the phrase "diet reviews" in the description if thats the phrase you want to rank for.

I would make the headings on the front page into proper heads by using the heading tags. I would make the top title "Cabbage Soup Diet - A One-Week Diet Plan" into an <H1>
and then the two titles beneath it should be <H2>

The best way to do it is to make one change at a time and then wait a day or two to see how it effects your posistion. Msn is great for leaning basic SEO because the SERPs are update on almost a daily basis

See, what irks me is that I can see one of my websites (DietReviews.info) doing well MSN-wise, but my other one (searchengineoptimizationstrategies.info - don't laugh, that's an Overture keyword with about 3,000 searches a month) doesn't even appear in the first 10 pages of MSN results, despite the fact that a search for "Search Engine Optimization Strategy" yields 40,722 results, while a search for "Diet Reviews" produces 69,220. Technically, SEO Strategy should be doing better, because it's more optimizied content-wise and has less competition.

Yeah but you cannot analyse competiton just using the number of search results returned. Anything related to SEO is gonna have strong competition because generally the pages devoted to SEO are gonna have good SEO :) Pages in the diet industry are less likely to be well optimised and therefore easier to achieve a high organic ranking.
