I'm starting a web-oriented small business, and I need a name for it. With this in mind, I acquired a few names that aren't necessarily real words, but seem short, catchy and memorable enough. So, I'm not so much asking for your appraisal of these domain names, but your vote on which is your favorite, so I can decide which to use!

webfury.com
neuris.com
hijaq.com
blunga.com
ledge.org
pluck.org

Pick the one you like best...

That depends ENTIRELY on what kind of business it is, and on what kind of presence you want with the site (modern, safe, cutting-edge, financial/official, sexy, nature...).
If you let us know the nature of the business, and what kind of presence/mood you want to set, I'll have a go at choosing one of your reg'd names, or suggesting an available name for it.
This thread probably belongs in a different forum than appraisals, but it's here so I'll have a go. Sounds fun.

Blunga.com is nice! Short, memorable, and catchy. I'd use that if I were you.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. If a mod wants to move it...

It will be a web design/development business. I do websites for a lot of local bands and artists, so I definitely want to give it a fun and informal feel rather than a cold, formal feel.

That make any sense?

Thx for the xtra info. Here she goes:
webfury = rather straightforward; not bad but to me a little obvious and not outstanding.
neuris = quite nice... but not kool funky killer Rasta nice, more like tech nervy neuron gamer nice; def good for use for another kind of site.
hijaq = beautiful coined word based on something, but not for this kind of site.
blunga = definitely my fav for the use you specified; strong, memorable, on the fence to being funny to say out loud, and definite funkfactor for use in anything creative/muzak. (warningWARNINGwarning - shameless self-promotion ahead: I think my name groobie.com is even better for this use :) -- works with groovy for design/music, and 'groupie', etc.)
Ledge and pluck both very nice, but org kills 'em, and plus they're not nearly as nice, creative-wise, as the others, even if you had them in dot.com (though of course they'd be nicely more valuable).
I wouldn't choose pluck unless you want to attract almost exclusively musicians...? Then it might be worth it, even with the dot.org.

If you're not in a hurry, definitely check out my available domains list (see signature; lots of groovy names since I specialize in inventing funk and unusual ones). Haven't posted the one with mostly coined words yet, but you might still see something here that you like more than what's on your list.

I do like your names; neuris and blunga seem very strong coynd wyrdz.

Hi Satchel

You have a few nice names.

webfury.com -- This one is catchy and may be a good reseller if you don't use it, but it could suit the business you describe.
neuris.com - not nearly as catchy as the others
hijaq.com - may be the second best for catchyness
blunga.com - the best for catchyness and strikes me as the best for the use described.
ledge.org - okay but an org extension, (does "not for profit" describe your business? It describes mine some days)
pluck.org - possible TM issue with Pluck (pluck.com) and again an org extension.

My vote is for WebFury.com I think this name has value even if you don't develop it.

The idea of developing a made up name is great but it needs to be something that people will remember so I don't give your other names a thumbs up.

In the past when I have a list of available brandable domains that I want to register, I have shown them to friends and family and then asked them a week later which ones they can remember.

Thanks for your feedback guys. Right now I am leaning towards either Hijaq or Blunga. Anybody have more thoughts?

Blunga is the best one you picked up for the use you specified, with WebFury being a 2nd choice. However, if I were you I'd look into checking out expired names through a few days or so and trying to find something better. I think that something short and brandable is definitely what you'd want. I think Hijaq and WebFury are overall better names than Blunga but they don't really go with music, art, or web development. Neither does Blunga, but that's really the kind of thing you want if you're going to create a new brand, something specific to the area you want to develop in, or something non-specific to ANY area. Still, I'm of the opinion that you can get a better name, and if you'd like, I'll help you find one...PM me if interested.

I like Webfury.com the best out of all of those. It's short, .com extension, and easy to remember.

I don't like Hijaq.com or Neuris.com, but that's just me personally. They seem slightly harder to remember.

Good luck, let us know how you do! :)

I'm coming around to this too. I LIKE blunga better... but for consumer-memory and the understandability factor, if I may be analofficial about it, I'm swinging to the much more straightforward - but still nice - webfury. Not that I had anything against it in the first place, sometimes I'm just a sucker for 'neat' over 'appropriate'. Maybe save blunga for something over-the-fence funky and unusual...

Did you really tell your coworker?? :)

And for the choice of name, I do not peronally like any one of them. IMHO.

Yeah, i'm beginning to think your right, so maybe it's between Webfury and Hijaq.

Although it's interesting to note, if this weather site can be trusted, Blunga is the name of a village in Bong County, Liberia:
