I need some help, I am trying to design a good landing page for a couple of different sites that I am starting to run advertising campaigns with. However every time I read a "tutorial" all I get is confused.

Does anyone here have any tips? Or better yet a couple of good examples of what you think is a good landing page?

Thanks for any help in advance :)
I would hate to spend all my advertising budget and get no conversions because of a shitty landing page

What exactly are these sites about?

One of them is for a Canadian Politics and News forum

While I am also investigating Affiliate marketing so for those there are no topics until I choose a product.

I am just trying to figure out what makes a good landing page and what makes a bad one. There are lots of tutorials out there, however few of them actually SHOW examples.

As a side note CDDC, we joined on the same day....WEIRD D-:

If your web design ability is limited then an easy / better option may be to find a nice website template from www.templatemonster.com and then modify the text etc to suit your needs, they only cost about $60 or so and there are some luvely ones with very tasty graphics/layouts IMO

Take a looky  It may get your design juices going, it does for me ;)

What kind of landing pages do you need for a forum or a news websites? Landing pages are a good thing if you sell products or services. But for a forum or a news site, I don't know what good a landing page would do.

I am trying to get people registered, then at the very least I have their email, even if they don't participate in the discussions.

I will also be starting some affiliate advertising that will require landing pages, so if I could get people to sign up to a forum at least I would know that I was going in the right direction.

And Gazzip, thanks for the tip I will try that out
