New member, mainly because I am trying to find out whether a technophobe friend of mine can sell her domain and this site looks like the best place to get that answer/information.

The site content itself is not forsale and she has just renewed the domain for 2 years. I am designing new content for her and after a brief chat about that she decided that perhaps she might like to change her business name and url etc as it needs a damn good spring clean.

I did point out that she can point the existing URL to the new one and then wait 2 years and not renew it, however, perhaps she could get some money back (not a huge amount).

The domain is preciousaccessories.co.uk, currently holding page until I transfer her files over.

Any advice gratefully received.

Welcome to the forum!

Does the existing domain receive any traffic? If it does, point it to the new domain and take advantage of it.

Most people would prefer to keep an existing domain name rather than go with a new one, because an older one is usually listed in search engines, etc.

There is very little traffic if at all to the existing domain.

So if she is determined to have a new name/domain and doesn't want to keep the existing one...how do I go about trying to sell it, what should I do? (other than redirection)

Getting an appraisal would be a good start. Find out if it's worth anything and then go from there.
