Hello There !

Good morning, or probably Good Evening for most of you in the U.S.

I found my way here via the GoDaddy - Afternic - Google - NamePros route.

I have two domains that I have held for a few years, and thought it was time to try and sell them.

Then, of course, my mind started racing along and thinking 'Could I buy a few more Domains and try to sell them, too?'.

I thought that I was maybe a bit late on the scene, but I've just seen a thread talking about a big increase in sales last year.

Where to start.......

Advice appreciated : Is it best to begin with Domain Parking while I learn a bit more ?

Hello, welcome, you can start off with Domain Parking to see if it generates clicks.

Thanks Everyone !

My head is literally spinning at the moment having had a good look around the Forum.

For the Parking (and probably also the selling) I think I saw that I must Verify Ownership by updating
the DNS records. Do I have to do this with both records or just one of them?

You need to use both of the nameservers if that's what you mean.

Thanks again King.

Yes, the nameservers, I meant.

I'll have a look at that this morning. No rush - I've only had the first domain for 10 years!

I tried that, but initially Afternic only provided one nameserver for Verification, which I put in both
boxes, but the update was refused.
Same for one GD + one Afternic, wouldn't accept.

Then I found two Afternic Nameservers : ns1 dot afternic & ns2
but GD wouldn't accept those either : 'Hostname has invalid TLD'.

Same with my second host.

They both had a Verification button which accepted the TXT Record so I did that.

Might I have something locked somewhere?

Many Thanks.

Hi.

No, I put the full name in (copy & paste).

The shortened version was because the Forum Filter was reading it as an outside email
and wouldn't let me post !

I'll try again this evening and report back.

Sorted!

Many thanks.

Not sure what I did that was different to this morning but they've both updated.
Will look at the Parking tomorrow (Afternic seem to want me to set them up for sale in order
to park them).

I don't want to hog the show but one last question here :

Is there any difference between Domain Sellers/Hosts other than the price
(for buyers just looking to resell, not actually use) ?

I see that Ionos are offering Dot Coms for $1 for the 'first year' (are they insisting on a 2 year purchase?).

What should I expect to pay for a 1 year deal?

Hope you all have a Great Weekend.

*Ah, I see the Ionos 1€ (in my case) is for 1 Year, but on one DC only, as a 'welcome' gift.

Don't use Ionos. They are horrible and meant for end-users anyway. Try SpaceShip, Sav, Dynadot, Porkbun, & if you want web3 capabilities, UnstoppableDomains.

You can compare pricing and deals here: https://tldes.com/com

Ok, I'll have a look at those over the weekend. Thanks again.

*Had to remove your link again (as a Newbie!).

Try SpaceShip,

I joined Spaceship today. They seem to be pushing for business at the moment -

but it took me all afternoon to spend 12 Bucks. :xf.smile:

My plan is to stick with Dot Coms to begin with, but they are hard to find.

Even obscure English words and sayings from my childhood were taken long ago.

You folks have been busy.

I settled on Hyphen-Hated and SoldAndAway to start the ball rolling.

Hello and welcome to nps!

Many thanks.

I had a list of 100 names (nearly all taken!).

Now I've just got a list of 100 questions. Trying to ease my way into things.

I've been planning to do it for a long time, but always busy with something else :

(Az, ebay, freesites buying & selling).

Figured I might as well cancel the lottery tickets, and put the money into domains...

Domain investing takes more brainpower than picking up a ticket or two but it is very rewarding when it pays off. Best of luck to you...spend lots of time reading and learning here.
