I'm Ishara from Sri Lanka(Asia) . Actually i don't have a sound knowledge about domaining and haven't buy any domain at the moment. But im hoping to read more about this first. It would be great if you guys can help me to find some good threads for a beginner. Also i have a small question.
Is it profitable to buy domains with .lk extension? ( .lk represent the Sri Lanka)

Good idea to ask questions and find out more about domaining before diving in.

My advice:

- concentrate on .COM's only! At least at first.

- avoid any domain hacks, like the ones @bro mentioned.

- a few ccTLD exceptions aside - like .co or .io - investments in ccTLD's limit you to that country's domain market only. Is the local .lk market worth putting your money into? That's something you can best investigate locally and in your own language. Internationally, .lk is pretty much unknown.
