Bumped into this website and I'm impressed with all of the features - especially since I can sell domains for free...Some of the rules seem a little confusing but I am new to this game and need to learn alot more!

Can anyone recommend which is the most practical way to collect payment, if I sell a domain name. Should it be through escrow.com or PayPal...?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to the forum @joezcorner ! We both just got a couple of good pieces of advice for payment in here. I've sold domains before, but never directly as done here.

welcome joezcorner
Paypal is great if you avoid ticking the box paying/sending money for goods or services, as the person receiving the money gets hit with a 2.9% + $.30 fee for the transaction. Just make sure your transactions are personal, click the sending money to family and friends (both parties have to be in the same country) then there are no fees.
Good one buddy. Nice legal loophole :D

WWWelcome aboard!
I strongly recommend escrow.com as it is quick, safe, and affordable. Paypal is good as well. Use Paypal ONLY if you are dealing with a trustworthy individual. By just paying extra few bucks to escrow.com, you'd have a peace of mind :)

Welcome to Namepros

Ecop.com has low fees, I have heard good things but never used them.

For paypal, not that I sell a lot I always send an invoice with the following disclaimer, that i got here from namepros member

By paying this invoice you agree that there will be no refunds, no charge backs and no returns permitted. We agree to transfer the domain name [Domain] to your [Registrar] account once payment is made.
From there we are no longer responsible for the domain name and are in no way responsible to return the payment in anyway
.

Beware there are a lot of scammers out there looking for fresh blood.
Build you a money making site for $899 ha ha they suck you dry

Personally, I avoid PayPal and prefer Escrow.com even for smaller transactions. I don't mind paying the escrow fees on a smaller transaction because I have the peace of mind in knowing the money is safe, unlike with PayPal where someone can do a charge back even months later and steal your domain and your money.

Hello joezcorner, Welcome 2 Namepros!!!

Escrow they are fine
Paypal their conversion it's really worst, they take few bucks via conversion + their commission
so try to avoid Paypal

Welcome!
Based on your question you can use Paypal for below 1k transactions and Escrow for more than 1k. But thats not a rule :)

Yes, many here follow this way. Personally, I don't mind paying the extra fees to avoid using Paypal and the problems that can occur with using them.

I prefer to use Escrow/com for all transactions.

I figure most domains are purchased at such a low price that most sales are many multiples of the cost, and the profit is still pretty good.

So paying a larger chunk as a fee does not bother me.

Just wanted to be sure what the 'normal paypal method' would be. At this point, I'm not overly concerned about the commission that I would be charged - just want to insure that I use the best choice possible to receive payment...Thanks for any replies.
