Greenpeace has acquired a plot of land next to the proposed third runway at Heathrow within the proposed airport boundary. hmm..Name does not make the intentions very clear. At first I thought it was some kind of a plot(Dictionary:A secret scheme to do something (especially something underhand or illegal).

Secondly the idea may not be long lived. I mean it might initially generate some traffic but with the time it has no where to expand. You cannot really build a sustainable concept around it. Again my views. Feel free to differ

The plot has two literal meanings here, it is a plot of land, and it was a secret plot to buy the land to produce difficulties for UK Gov to develop the adjacent land for a runway. They can compulsory purchase the land but if it has thousands of beneficial owners in several countries or continents, it may delay the operation. It is intended to use this as headline material in the press and could run for months.

Thanks Andy for the clarification.However I know that here it is suppose to mean the "Land". I was just trying to explain what struck to my mind first from the word "Plot" so I had to take the help of dictionary meaning to refer to it.
