Have Backorder w/ Pool and GD. Would it be benificial to backorder with Snapnames as well, or will it be counter productive to backorder with too many sources???

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I'd backorder it with as many places as possible, you don't loose anything this way - I've found snapnames to be very good at aquiring names but I still rarely get the ones I want as the auctions can get VERY expensive if there are several people after the same name.

You should find out who the domain name is currently registered with and go directly to their "parnered drop company" if possible IMO

Who is it reg'd with ?

If it's at a smaller registrar who doesn't "partner" with pool/snap/namewinner/etc., you should backorder everywhere you can (clubdrop, godaddy backorder, pool, snap, etc. etc.) because you never know who will end up with it. All are "pay only if you win" (Well, GoDaddy is pay $19 up front, but you keep the backorder credit if you don't get it), so no harm, :imho:

Thats why I backordered it with GD in the first place. I have to use that credit I still have from the last 18 tries :]

Unfortunately I don't know them all - mainly snapnames partners as thats who I prefer to use. I just got a list sent to me from snapnames of their partners - Namescout is not on their list.

I'm sure someone here will be able to tell you very soon :)

Pool.com's parent co owns namescout, so I'd bet dollars to donuts that they will end up there.

Are you aware of any high-profile names that they have "won"?
This is my first time hearing about them, and the page certainly does look snazzy ;) Any other info you have would be appreciated :tu:

I don't necessarily think that means to totally abandon snapnames (Considering backorders with them are risk-free... no $ down, etc.) JUST IN CASE.
You never know what sort of shennanigans (sp?) are likely to ensue in the domain world.

Right. So I went ahead and signed up and placed my backorder with snapnames.

So what registrar does snapnames place the domain in if you win? Network Solutions? That would be a bummer... I would prefer it go to moniker, which is why I purposely went through their website to get to snapnames, but it still looks to me like the name will go to network solutions...

SnapNames places names in many different places...
Some good, most are bad...
For example, I keep ending up at: http://www.dns-net.de/

That has no automated functions for updating domains, etc., and their tech support doesn't speak English :)
