Hello,

Keep in mind that every domain that is still available usually is for a reason. Nobody would buy it for $10. Of course, it is an oversimplification but you should not expect to make a lot of money on handregs anyway. But when you're starting out, it's your best bet. Do a lot of research first, then buy a few, with restraint. Do not pile up a lot of domains until you've made a few sales and understand the market well enough.

Sales are the exception, thus domaining is much more difficult than it sounds. There is a bit of luck and timing involved, but it all boils down to the quality of your inventory.
Most of the great domains were registered long ago. If you want to build a quality portfolio, you'll have at some point to turn to the aftermarket and buy from current registrants.
Good luck.

There is profit in handregs. The problem is finding the right ones and understanding domain value and endusers. Most are crap.

Dont overdo it, but the names you think are good, register a few. Then try to sell them for a few hundred dollars (dont mass email everyone. Personalized contact one by one to best enduser prospects)

Selling any name, handreg or aftermarket first is about identifying desirable names. That and selling them repeatably takes time learning, researching and watching sales and honing you interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, professional image and approach.

If they are so good why aren't they taken ? :) I'm not saying they are bad, I'm just saying that if people won't even pay $10 (or £7) to buy them, it will be even more difficult for you to resell them for a profit. Handregs can sell nonetheless but you have to be very picky.

The key word here is 'lot'. If you are finding names to register easily then your domaining sense detector is probably not refined yet. Keep reading and learning. Good Luck.
