Nice name. Would value it mid to high $xxx undeveloped. However, I would develop it into an e-commerce site for GPS. Hold onto this name, the best it yet to come with hand held GPS devices. They are going to be standard on every phone soon.

Thanks for the replies. I think the name is worth more, at least high xxxx, given the amount of searches and expected growth of the market (676 million expected GPS units to be sold in 2012, up from 155 mm last year). Plus it is in top 8 of GPS related search terms. It is a considerably more popular search term than any terms from the following sales from last year;

Just my opionon of course, but I think given these sales, with some of these terms having very little search volume, Handheldgps.com is probably better than any of them, except maybe GPSDevices.com (even though, again, it has less seach traffic than my name) which I think was a steal for whoever bought it.

Yea I got a good laugh when I saw the Estibot price as well. I think they recently updated their formula as well, because before I bought the name they estimated it at only $170,000, but now it's 220. Though their prices are usually somewhat accurate in my opinion, many are way overvalued, especially with the update.

Hi,

I just wanted to bring this back up because I have a question. PortableGPS.com just sold at TRAFFIC for 17K (nice return for whoever bought it last June @ 4,500). Now all the sources I check, including OVT ( dated I know) KeyCompete, Quantcast, Wordtracker, MSN, and Keyword Discovery, show that the terms 'Handheld GPS' and 'Hand Held GPS' (2 seperate terms) have about twice the combined search traffic of 'Portable GPS'. Would this then value HandheldGPS.com at about twice the value, or are there other factors that might come into play such as age (mine is 5 years older), CPC value, length of domain (same), etc., which would make it worth less, or more?

It would be interesting to know how much type-in traffic it gets. Also how much in PPC income. Is SEDO the best place to park this?

Hey Josh,

I have all my names parked at sedo right now. It's just easier for me, rather than having to test differnet services, especially since my names aren't all that high traffic and don't make much money, so even if I made 20-30% more, it's not really worth the time. I just secured the name about a week ago, and so far have 6 visitors with 2 clicks. Not exactly earthshattering, I know. But I see the value in develioping a name like this, as suggested by cmbilt, or using with a developed ecommerce site already.

And regarding estibot, it is a very good site and I use it all the time, so thanks for putting it together. As I said, I think it's fairly accurate most of the time. However, sometimes it overshoots the value by quite a bit, probably due to to term frequency (at MSN maybe?), eventhough it's not searched for that much. For example, I bough petticoat.com at auction last October for 5K. Estibot values it at 130K right now. While I think it's worth more than I paid, 130 seems a bit excessive for me.
