Am I the only person who suspects "halvarez" on SnapNames IS SnapNames?

I've had some terrible experiences with NameJet. I don't even use them anymore. They essentially bid right up to your high bid. I'm not surprised, it's Network Solutions, the most corrupt and sleazy registrar in the market.

But SnapNames, too? Please tell me I'm wrong.

For a while now, though, I've bid on some industry specific domains, highly targeted and low profile, yet halvarez shows up. Today he bid me right up to one level under my high bid..

Who else knows my high bid except me and SnapNames?

With good names dwindling on the drop, DC's are getting desperate (and quite sleazy) it appears..

Watch your auctions and only bid up when necessary. Don't trust the drop catchers and don't put in a high bid IMHO.

I was looking around in DNF for more information about Halvarez and I found this auction history (from http://www.avensen.com/misc/sn-auction-1.htm). This is the only domain that I know of that was actually won by halvarez.

Maybe Halvarez is the biggest domainer in the world.
Or maybe there is something a little bit stange.

It seems this domain is now in the hands of Google.

What happened after halvarez won this domain name?

Did Google go after him?
It is hard to find anything on Google on the subject because all the links in their page results points to Google.com/trends. I've been trying to use Yahoo to find something, but so far nothing.

If you look at the Aboutus.org website, it looks like GoogleTrends was parked at SEDO at some point in the past. See: http://www.aboutus.org/GoogleTrends.com

Maybe Google just straight out bought it. I can't find any lawsuit concerning the name.

On the domaintools link that you posted, the creation date for this site is as follows:

Created on..............: 2006-05-22.
Expires on..............: 2010-05-22.
Record last updated on..: 2009-01-21.

That's three days before the auction results that I posted. That would fit with the domain being dropped, snatched up by Snap and auctioned off three days later. That kind of verifies that the auction results are real and not invented.

lol, looks like halvarez is old story, i googled that therm, and among others i found this comment, from 2007:

"This “halvarez” is on any domain bid at snapnames, and anytime I find myself and him I always win , I never see him try to overbid me, Who is this halvarez?"

edit: There are also halvarez.com and .net domains-related websites, registered in 2006.

You are right. The question is old. The answer still isn't clear, however. I have yet to find anyone who knows anything about it.
