ccTLD Had an offer for my LL .PE domain

I got a random e-mail from a self-proclaimed "ccTLD investor" about my LL.pe domain name. I had not listed it for sale anywhere, nor is it really in use (I just use it as a personal URL shortener), so I guess the buyer just did a WHOIS search on some names he/she wanted.

I won't list the domain for search engine reasons, but it's my initials (Jamie Dabrowiecki is my name) dot pe.

The buyer initially offered me โ‚ฌ400 (~$450). I've never really sold any domains properly before, but wanted more, mainly due to the fact I just had to pay a $250 renewal fee (long story). I countered for $1,600 to gage his interest and he came back with โ‚ฌ450...

Would you suggest his offer is fair for the name? If so, I won't bother selling as it's got more personal value to me.

Not a great negotiator as never done it before, so I hope you guys don't mind me asking for your thoughts :)

If you want to up the price, you've got an excellent reason there that will help you show some character :)
You really do want the name for your own use. So the ball is on the buyer's side.

the value you have set on your name is a real end-user's value, ie. you
All you need to know really is, how much the name is worth to you as an end-user and not as a domainer... you should start from there imo

Thanks for the input - the domain is actually being used by me for a purpose as well so that give it extra value to me. I'll say no to his offer and see how serious he is.

Just be careful -as long as you still want to sell ofc- your 'no' not to be strictly negative :) .. I mean, you should leave some open pathways for the buyer to come back to you

NN.pe just sold on Sedo for $200+ today so probably a fair price.

Gosh, looking at your sig I think you might regret letting it go, or at least letting it go too cheap. LL in ccTLDs are sparse when it's an exact match like your initials. And I would venture to say JD are more common letter/initials also.

Then again, I have my name dot com since 2000 and I would consider a sale for the right price : grin :

JamieDabrowiecki = JiuDian = Hotel/Wineshop/Restaurant in Chinese so it is a pretty good combo.

That was my argument too, especially as "JD" is a well known acronym for a worldwide brand. :P

You sell it to him for $500, I sell you jd.al for $400, you make quick profit and also get a European tld LL that only has $10-13/year renewal fee. Let me know ))

If I were to sell, I already have a domain I'd use to replace it. Thanks though.

No problem. So are renewals 250/year for .pe or you overpaid?

No - renewals are usually about $40 I think.

Basically, this is what happened:
I have auto-renewals on all of my domains, but for some reason it had stopped working (my card randomly vanished from my profile). The domain expired and apparently all .PE domains must be renewed 2 weeks before expiry which I thought was odd.
Anywho, the domain expired and I had to pay a one-off fee of $250 to get it back.
