Hacked by MDX

Hi all,

Today, one of my site was hacked into. He didn't do alot of damage yet, but I am afraid he may in the future. I have no idea how he figured out my username and password.

In any case, I did a search on "hacked by mdx" and there are thousands of listings for it. Apparently, they are hackers from Turkey. Not sure what their motive is.

If anyone's heard of this hacker and know how to prevent further attacks, please let me know.

it is quite possible they do not know the login details.

Make sure the site that was hacked is running the latest version of the software for it.

A few years ago I had a php-nuke site and that was defaced by people who claimed my site was satanic (it was actually a fan site for a horror movie). They just used a small security hole that allowed them to add content without having to log into an account.

They tried to exploit a shoutbox on one of my forums, thankfully I was online and all they managed to do was get banned.

They hacked into my credit card website, and changed one of my categories to "hacked by mdx"

They/he hacked virtually every FlexBB forum versions 0.5.0 - 0.5.5.

(Fixed in version 0.5.7)

Just a warning, he hacked one of my sites too...
