Hey everyone! I'm logging in from Seattle during the Domain Roundtable conference. They've done a great job so far organizing the event, it's been an interesting day one.

I attended a panel discussion earlier about the expiring domain market, and another dealing with the domain aftermarket business. Bob Parsons (GoDaddy CEO) gave a spirited lecture about phishing, ICANN, government regulation, and other topics. I'll share some more information over the next few days here on the forum from my notes. Seems they're recording a lot of the events to release later also.

And speaking of Bob Parsons, he's doing a internet radio broadcast a little more than an hour from now, live from the Domain Roundtable.

I took a quick picture of him last night when a few of us walked to the Space Needle, but it's blurry and I'm not sure he'd want me to publish it. He's a big Jolly but grouchy grizzly looking character, with a huge diamond earring in his ear - no - wait - that was Bob Parsons. I always get those two mixed up.

The biggest event yesterday was probably the CEO Roundtable. Champ Mitchell from Network Solutions was not able to come. Bob Parsons was hilarious as usual, and he is the only CEO that travels with bodyguards. I bumped into him and the bodyguards on the elevator and asked him about them. They stiffened-up and he told me that they were to protect him from people like me on elevators.

Peter Forman from Register.com, Rob Hall from Pool and NameScout.com, Eric Harrington from Moniker, A second-in-command from Network Solutions, Clint Page from Dotster, Bob Parsons from GoDaddy, Paul Stahura from eNOM and Jay Westerdal from Name Intelligence agreed on much more than they disagreed on. (There was also someone from MelbourneIT.) There was general agreement that ICANN needed to have more teeth and enforce the regulations better than they have been doing.

I tried to talk Sedo and Afternic to use a common Excel template so we could all upload our names in bulk to both of them. I'm not sure that will happen.

The chemistry was really amazing, with IP attorneys and ICANN and Verisign employees mixing it up with domainers. I think that we are getting more respect and our sites are seen more as legitimate businesses than they were in the past.

I believe that recordings will be available at a very reasonable fee, and I hope to get copies of many of the sessions that I wasn't able to attend. To get the most out of these, though, you really have to be there. I'm not sure I really believed before the conference that the value is in the networking - but that's absolutely where the real value is.

Thanks for the cool update, Leonard ... glad we have some folks there supporting RJ and keeping us here up-to-speed, it sounds like a real value IMHO.
