Is there any good listing a domain at Greatdomains.com ?

No weird contract or something ?
Work good to sell a domain with them ?

There's a very long contract you have to sign and fax back to them to get your domain listed. They charge 10% if your domain sales, which is a reasonable price.

I purchased some nice single word .cc domains the same week they announced they would no longer be listing .cc domains for sale at their site. A good place to list if you happen to own some single word, "heirloom" .com names.

RJ said it all! You will be entering a long contract in which you will not be allowed to sell your domain outside GreatDomains.com for the duration of the contract.

I have a few domains for sale there (2 char/3 letter/one word).

A while back I emailed them directly and asked about this 'If i Sell the domain elsewhere do I still have to pay you the commission' scenario.

I got an email back from a Rachel Halperin there and she said that I could sell it elsewhere and there would be NO extra charge.
Obviously , I will keep this email !

If you get the same email then you will be covered.

If you are looking to list a new name there then stipulate that you require non-exclusivity and make sure this is confirmed before listing.

Otherwise contracts are on a 6 monthly rollover basis.

I don't like them. Maybe I am bitter. I had a few domains that were easily better than some listed at GreatDomains. After a week they sent me a canned response saying sorry we are not able to list your domains. I sent back a reply and asked if they could tell me why. I received the same response. I would have accepted a valid reason or even a reason at all. I'm the type of guy that votes with my pocket book; hence, I will never visit their site again.

In my own opinion, GD tends to list the domains at a higher price than what one might consider reasonable.

Just filled out one of their contracts and figure if you have numerous domains, its not bad to give 6 months for that one domain if they can get the price?

When I first started out and didn't know any better, I felt bitter when they didn't accept my "wonderful" names, (that have since been dropped). hehe

Now that I have some names that they have accepted, my strategy is to list w/ them, those names that I am content to let sit for awhile, figuring that a more realistic price will ultimately catch up to the current asking price as the name appreciates over time.

Most of the names at GD are of a quality that will give the the right buyer, a name can be immediately optimized on the net, and if used well, will soon pay for itself. These are "low risk"names that will increase in value over time.:wave:

I didn't say that they were "wonderful" but I have been at this long enough to know that the ones I tried to get listed were of "better" quality. Besides, it was the response or lack there of that made me "bitter".

They certainly dont have a system per se..

On the one hand, as I said, I have quite a few names listed there including some very mediocre one word .nets (calms/gained/margin)
On the other hand it goes awry.. They wouldnt let me list 2 good 2-character.coms despite them having recently sold one !

Strange behaviour indeed.

It wouldnt stop me listing other names. They just accepted 562.com, the phone code for Long Beach, from me.
The bottom line is you can never have enough publicity for the sale of a domain name!

So list them anyway...

What is with there prices. 3 number .com domains shouldent be 30,000 on avrage.

Exactly, dont bother trying to analyse it..
Some of it makes no real sense.

Prices shown are almost all End User prices.
I dont think this is a bad thing as their should always be a marketplace that showcases these sorts of names as it 'might' attract End User interest !

The other thing to consider is that they probably get some decent traffic to the site. They rank very highly on 'domain name sales' searches, paying a fortune probably on the CPC.

Its better that the prices are rich and not dirt cheap.
It makes our doimains more attractive and makes the domain market look pretty buoyant to the unknowing....

I dont expect I will get 562 snapped up at $30,000 but I'd love to see a serious counter !:blink:

I wasn't alluding to your post here. I took what you said at face value, and figured the names you submitted to Great Domains were as good as, or better than, some of the names that were listed. I was just telling my story, and was not trying to make a comparison and definitely not implying any condescension at all.

I too, am strong on voting w/ my pocket book. In this case, my names were definetly undeserving (i actually dropped them, as I mentioned), so no harm, no foul.
