Dear Friends,

When Spanish domain names (.es) went free, the first thing that crossed my mind was the tons of great words that end with .es.

With sites like del.icio.us or blo.gs being so popular, it’s just a matter of time till domain names apparently with any tld, and dots in the middle, become popular.

Better yet, strange tlds (sc, gs, es) are limited, since there are no more new countries being created everyday. And other domains are created not to be used in words (like web, xxx, pro, or others). So this .es was a great opportunity.

I used an automated tool to search small, popular words that end with es.

I registered: (on eurodns)

I also ordered, the next day, 3 more:

All 3 failed and all 3 were registered by the SAME company! Very strange indeed…

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, but the populace of Spain speaks Spanish. So I think the dot-es domains would be more valuable written in Spanish.

Spain is not US and Cataluña is not Spain

I live in Spain, and must strongly agree with "homebuyer".
For shure there are some exceptions, but those are the premium ones.
Wastly majority od spanish people dont eaven speak english, or at least very bad.
Additionally in Spain still it is the.com that rules, not the .es (for now).

Without beeing negative, but the following domains are throwen away money.
Some examples:

etc...
- What or why should this be a good names ?????
- Any reason is highly appreciated.

No new counries, but not all countries/regions have their TLD.
New ccTLDs are coming out every day !
Best SPANISH EXAMPLE --> .cat will be out soon (already ICANN approved) for the spanish region of Cataluña.
OK I would reg here also the pussy.cat but not much more

I'm also living in Spain.
I think del.icio.us is just an exception to such kind of "words-game" that we can play with domain extensions (i.e.: favorit.es). I'm just not able to evaluate if this would become an accepted tendency in a near future.

Talking about the ".cat" extension, if I'm not wrong is not intended to represent a country (if we consider Cataluña a country, something which I don't have the intention to discuss here). The condition to accept the registration of domain names under ".cat" is to developed websites with its contents in Catalán language and/or sites that promote the Catalanish culture. BTW: this DO is a rare and never-seen-before exception by the ICANN.

Am I right if I suspect you are from Cataluña nRnF?. Hint: you made the typo of "inmoviliaria.es", when the correct word is "inmoBiliaria.es".

I firmly believe that what makes "sell-able" a domain name is just a matter of good marketing.

It seems that domains as dup.es will be flooooding the market of real good domain names as cellphon.es etc...

Nope. I saw brac.es (the guy that you mentioned his potfolio) and vacanci.es featured at Sedo, but now they are listed yet. I have not yet received any offers on my domains. Will see.
