I've noticed that great domains is starting to refer people to use afternic. They say something to the tune of "your domain is great and so we are reccomending you list it on afternic". If i wanted to list it on afternic , i would. I submitted it to greatdomains because I wanted it listed there. I dont care if they are partners or one bought out the other one. I sent them an email asking why, and they just forwarded the same email back to me. Dont think i'll blow 10% on them anymore.

I share your pain, I spent a good while typing out descriptions for my domain names and listing them for "approval" only to be pointed to thier affilate link! I was very dissapointed in them..

I think this is their new way to soft pedal a "no." Maybe they even make some money on it in what amounts to advertising for Afternic (rather than Sedo). Makes sense from a business standpoint and for the domainer it's no different than an email saying "no."

I don't think so, I submitted some VERY nice domain names to them, in all about 20 and all got redirected. I seriously think this is all they do is refer to their referal link.
Anyone want to correct me, has anyone got names with them?

If they wanted them, they would've sent you a contract. This is just a more polite way of saying no.

They just don't accept many names -- I've sent them several one-word .US names, nice names, that they also passed on that I thought were shoo-ins. It's like trying to anticipate a dice roll, figuring out which ones they'll like and which they won't. There are many people here on NP who have had their names accepted by GD, so it's not as if they're simply issuing blanket rejection letters regardless of the domain.
