Hi Guys, I would be grateful for any advice you might have for me. Three days ago I got my first ever unsolicited inquiry about buying one of my domains. I am not sure what to do. I am not going to get excited yet because I don't really know what it means.

Should I write back or wait to see if he contacts me again? He said:

I am interested in purchasing this domain name (not the website content, only the domain).
If you are open to selling please let me know ASAP and I will submit my best offer.

Any advice you could give based on your experience would be greatly appreciated!

It really depends on you. If you to sell you domain then may be you should od if you do not want sell that domain then just leave it as it is. Ans just say the potential buyer that you are not selling the domain

If the buyer ask you to order an appraisal first for blah blah reason, be careful, it may be a catch. Good luck.

Also depends on the domain - they could be just looking for you to say you are selling in order to prove "bad faith" for a dispute.

If you feel the domain is free of any issues and you want to sell, then I don't see the harm in pursuing it 1 step further and let them make an offer.

Just remember to be safe and use a known escrow service like Sedo to facilitate any possible sale.

I'll take a wild guess and say it was from mikesbikes444 right? Sorry to say but it's bogus :|

If they ask you to order an appraisal it DEFINITELY is a scam.

The wording of the offer shows it is the one that has been going round and round form the time-waster 'mikesbikes444'. Bin it!

Check to see if it is a scam first.

Thanks so much to everyone for responding so quickly! Yes, it was mikesbikes444! I feel like I've just gone through some kind of domainer initiation ceremony. I guess this isn't enough to make me a true domainer, but getting my first scam email (sniff) has been checked off the list. I knew I shouldn't get excited yet...

Yep, this scam is hitting just about everyone. I got it from a different name earlier today and a different approach, but they are always trying. Must have made some money off it though.

So the scam is that they ask for a paid appraisal and then send you to someone who gives them a cut of the appraisal fee?
