The first offer I got for my domains: 800USD for block / mx @ undeveloped from a mexican IP

Try to counter for higher or just accept it?

I had this domain for a week and I did only a little outbound with it. I had it priced at Undeveloped for 4888 USD.

It would cover all my expenses for the 90~ hand regs.

Not sure how countering works, if he declines the counter offer, can I still go back to 800 USD? Or does it lose the sale?

Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Always counter. Always. It can be off-putting to a buyer to have an offer immediately accepted, as they'll know/think they could've initially offered less.

Never accept the first offer even if you are okay with it.

Counter with what you think is the right price and then go from there.

Peace.

Okay welp, no reply yet at the undeveloped chat messenger. Been over a day now.

I guess I'll submit it to sedo auctions once they reply to my ticket. Not sure if I can get above what he offered over there though?

Guess I can wait and make another reply to him in a few days.
Be patient - a day without a reply isn't concerning in and of itself. People are busy. Give it some time :)

Yeah everyone was telling me to counter. But as a new domainer it would have helped a lot. If it doesn't work out I'm sure this name is worth holding onto for a long time regardless :)

Sometimes it's best to go with your own heart as too many opinions can be conflicting, though I understand about getting some advice. What's done is done now and you may still come out on top :)

Good luck (y)

@cixxy - quick edit out the buyer details just in case, simply retype your reply instead of the screenshot

<-unx is paranoid of details botching a deal that is not yet completed

Good luck - your counter seems fair although you might want to hold a while, your BIN seems quite reasonable as well. Yet if cash money now is more important, be happy with it and move to the next deal : smile :

Not sure how countering works, if he declines the counter offer, can I still go back to 800 USD? Or does it lose the sale?

At Undeveloped, the counter will negate the $800 offer. Talked about this with @Undeveloped and they said that if the buyer gets a counter, then later you would attempt to go back to the original offer, the buyer very often still won't complete the sale at the original offer.

Some of my domains have minimums and will get offers of the exact minimum, then after countering closer to my BIN, the buyer messages they don't even want to pay their original offer so it's helped me learn that offers aren't actually binding anyway.

Also next time dont post it here pubicly.
Send direct messages to experienced people that you know are willing to help.
Maybe the buyer is reading all of this

You have a great name, there can be some well funded blockchain startup in Mexico, who knows...

Do not sell your good names for 800, if they are well funded they can pay you easily 8000.

"Block" is amazing keyword - just google for example company "block.one", they are funded in billions of dollars - so imo wait for your ideal customer - if you can afford to wait, of course :)

But he's new and he's bought almost 100 names. I'm sure he knows a lot more now so the opportunity to get his money back + experience + profit is quite something.
If he's spent $1000 for his names. I'd try to get $2000 for block.mx vs waiting for the $8000.
$800 I wouldn't take.

If it didn't work , submit it to sedo crypto auctions. FAST

When you visit sedo.com
people click ''auctions ending soon''
it shows ALL upcoming auctions until ends of time (not many which I like because you have to pay $59).
So everyone will see you because going through the list is stress free and easy to do.
If you pay and set your auction to start in 5 days. It will show in this list as ending in 12 days. No one will be able to bid until it starts but they'll see it as an upcoming auction.
The auctions from crypto event are already there. All ending in 8 days 18 hours. (september 13th).
Those are the exact same you get when you click the view inventory under special crypto event on homepage.
So if you set your auction to end in 8 days and 16 hours. It will be the first crypto domain to show under ''auctions ending soon''. which most people use.
It's worth it. Be careful with reserve. there's brackets. 0-99$ 100-499$ 500-999$ 1000-4999$ 5000-9999$ 10.000-24.999$ etc..
I suggest you put it under the 1000-4999$ bracket. People won't see the exact number.
5000-9999 you probably won't get any offers.
500-999 you might get 1000$ which will force you into selling it.
People can bid any amount they want even outside your bracket. When it meets reserve it will say ''reserve met''.
If it doesn't sell at least you'll learn something.
If you are afraid you can always set it to 500-999. But even then you have no guarantee of sale. So don't do it.
You lose auction. You lose 800$. Alright. You learn.
And you keep block.mx
Spend that $59

I didn't comment earlier because I don't have a tremendous amount of experience in non .coms and could not offer any useful info.

But as said above, sometimes it is best to go with heart/gut instinct. I have gotten away from offer/counter offer exchanges except on my top tier 4L, single word or superior phrase names as many people get buyers remorse and change their mind/offer. 95% of my names have a buy it now price even though it is a lot of work to go through several hundreds of names every couple of months to adjust pricing when needed.

Please let us know if the buyer comes back around and/or how you do with the auction.

At Undeveloped, the counter will negate the $800 offer.

This is as a simple matter of law - nothing to do with Undeveloped. When an offer is made only a perfect tender (exact acceptance of the exact offer and terms) creates an enforceable contract (deal). Any counteroffer extinguishes the validity of the original offer.

Also when an offer is made - at any time before you accept, the offeror has a legal right to withdraw his offer.

Offer. Acceptance. Consideration. = a contract.

Of course this is the internet and unfortunately bozos make offers that you accept exactly and they still don’t always perform.

Thanks for the votes and advice so far.

Since block . SH sold for 2500, I think it has potential to get at least 2500...

I'm thinking about countering with 2500, which is something in between.

I do that to people when I want to buy a domain, bid really low and expect to get an offer in between.

Sedo says once you start an auction you can't sell the domain elsewhere.
So just list the domain as make offer with no buy now prices on other websites.
Redirect the domain to current sedo listing. that listing will automatically become auction page when it starts.

Okay well I took a gamble and paid the 59 euros. That's really expensive btw :(

I did this given that mostly all recent .MX sales on NameBio were sedo sales.

I hope it pays off. I think I might have calculated a bit wrongly. There was a bigger gap than I calculated for some reason. But no matter, it's still before the crypto auctions and hope I will get a lot of visibility for that!

Really hope my money isn't wasted, that was a good ~10 .com regs down the drain.

I personally would've taken the money. Then with that $800 bought a $600 name and banked $200 as backup.

All the best with the auction :)

congratz on the offer (y)

I personally would of gone a bit higher circa 4000 as you have dropped your price by nearly 50% which is a BIG drop and not left a lot of room for negotiation

Let us know how you get on.....

Thanks for the advice and sharing your valuable experience. I believe this offer was genuine because 800 USD is no small amount though, right?

Cool, is there a section on sedo for crypto only? I haven't used their auction system before.

Thanks for the nice words & your experience. I presented some facts

Hi [name], thank you for your offer. I can offer something closer to your budget. Previous related sales: block.sh 2,500 USD block.club 1,533 USD block.world 3,800 USD block.co 5,000 USD block.cc 4,950 USD Gracias.

and due to that I had to let the price be a more reasonable one. 4000 is quite ballsy haha, I didn't want to risk losing a sale, hopefully my words were courteous enough.
