Hi,
I know it's the for sale forum, but I thought an advice is best to be given here, so posting here, hope it's okay (actually it's for sale, so it should fit I guess)

Okay, like said in the title, today I would be glad to get your advice. Hopefully somebody can give me an idea, if I'm just right here with my thoughts.

Ok, the thing is, I have an offer to sell the 5 domains behind for all together $2000.

www.theinvestorforum.com (just one year old)
www.sweetpiece.com (from 1999)
www.pleasesmoke.com (from 2000)
www.camerasbuy.com (from 2000)
www.wireless-voip.com (from 1999)

My thoughts: the clickprices are quite high for all of them except sweetpiece.com and they have some decent traffic as well (analysed stats for one week behind).

www.theinvestorforum.com (193 real hits + very busy with SE-Bots, 13 clicks worth $5.43 in this week)
www.sweetpiece.com (61 real hits + SE-Bots, resulting in 42 clicks worth $1.18 in this week)
www.pleasesmoke.com (94 real hits + SE-Bots, resulting in 17 clicks worth $9.73 in this week)
www.camerasbuy.com (18 real hits + very busy SE-Bots, resulting in 5 clicks worth $2.37)
www.wireless-voip.com (382 real hits + very busy SE-Bots, resulting in 12 clicks worth $4.82 in this week)

In addition, SE-Bots are picking them up fast and from my experience with other domains, this will add more to the revenue slowly too.

Also Overture on many of them (the keywords in them) is quite high too (example: Overture is 950 for the exact phrase "wireless voip", 197566 for voip without wireless and highest bid for "wireless voip" is ~$3, the others like "cameras buy" etc. are very good too)

So my thought was (and still is), that they are worth way more, but on the other hand, with $2000 now it's possible to buy other domains, instead of waiting for the revenue to add up.

I know this posting is quite long, but these are my thoughts, so on one side the low price of only ~70 weeks of revenue, not taking into account the high value of the domainnames in my eyes (including the decent age on 4 of the domains, which is especially good to build trust like "online since 1999" - this is flashy, believe me, use it on some sites and it makes a difference ;o) and well, in addition maybe good for SEO too as advantage), but on the other side a fast sale - what would you do?

I mean, it would be a good amount of cash as present for christmas, but often after a sale you just think (god, why have I sold these so low?), so what would you do? (or is there somebody offering more than just ~70 weeks of the small revenue and nothing for the names by themselves? ;) )

I hope to get your opinions, I don't know why, usually I'm quite sure when it comes to sell or not sell, but this time, I don't know, my mind is jumping from sale to hold to sale to hold to sale to... Crazy...

I would sell them for $2k no doubt! I think you have two options: either sell or develop those names. If they really attract that kind of traffic on those ads-only pages they should do much better if developped.

It depends on what you'll do with the money. The domains could conceivably earn money indefinitely, or they could lose traffic and provide you with nothing, especially if they remain undeveloped. On the other hand, what will you put the $2000 towards? If you've got a good investment plan, take the cash.

Otherwise, if you have no pressing demands on your cash, I'd just hold onto the domains for awhile longer. This might actually appear to be a 'counteroffer' to the interested buyer, perhaps prompting him/her to offer you something high enough to eliminate this nagging doubt that you've got about the sale.

My 2c worth :

1) From the revenue you're making, it more than covers the cost of renewal / keeping the domains, so that isn't a factor any more - it's more a question of opportunity loss than of physical loss.

2) Do you think you can make MUCH more than $2,000, either by waiting for a higher bid or by developing it? If you're reasonably sure of it, makes sense to wait. Make sure you factor in any development cost (or the cost of your time, if you're doing it yourself) for a decent compare. For instance - if you think that you could get about $10,000 or more six months later with a small expenditure, it doesn't make sense to sell.

3) The other side - if you do keep it, but aren't going to do anything much, you could get the $2,000 in 70 weeks - say about 16 months. Against that, consider that normally sites with revenue sell for around 6 - 8 months revenue - and if you can find decent bargains, with possibilities of increasing the revenue, you could make $4,000 or more by selling these, and buying other sites.

Which is more likely? You need to decide.

Last but not least - as drinklord suggests, you can try to egg the buyer on into offering more. I'd suggest you also edit your post if you can to remove the domain names from here - if he were to do a google search and find this thread, he knows where you're coming from!

Best wishes.

thanks for your opinions, very helpful on my way to a decision and regarding deleting them out - I'm sure he is watching the thread already ;) (aren't you?) at the end, it is more for me, not for him, he has his strategy already I guess and well, I'm still not sure what to do :(

Ok, status: the buyer does not want to pay more than $2000, so negotiations without success. Well, then I will hold them I guess, does anybody of you have an idea, if an automatic RSS-Blog or sth. is worth putting it on the domains?
