per Domaintools Whois Google DNS holds more than 17 thousand domains as of 12/26/15
(this is not comprehensive but hits some of the major TLDs) As the figures below do not add up to 17k, please feel free to add major additions which I overlooked in comments. I suppose I missed some CCLTDs but checked quite a few. I checked some of the more popular nTLDs but Google does not seem to be registering too many of the ones I checked.
