Wow..Google selling domain registrations?

http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=53929&topic=10407

Our package includes:

* Domain registration for $10 per year

Once you get started, you can always reach your domain registrar through the Google Apps for Your Domain control panel. Since we’re handling the configuration for your Google Apps services, you may not need to contact your registrar. If that’s the case, you can automatically renew your domain registration in the Google Apps control panel.

I own WarehouseDomains (dot) com and have hundreds of customers who have registered names under me... I got into this many years ago as a reseller.

Somebody a few years ago bought the name googledomains(dot)com and left it as a default parked page....as the reseller I am getting not only the PPC on the links but all the free advertisement I could ever dream of.

I dont know how long it will last, but I can say its been a very merry Xmas so far.

Google "google" for more info ;)

But yeah, into a partnership with enom and GoDaddy - very limited extensions.

Potentially awesome service. Google Apps looks very interesting. Re the $10 pricing this includes private whois. It is possible to use Google Apps with a domain regged elsewhere and google are not offering a domain transfer service. They say it is possible to 'push' a name but all this needs to be road tested. One job in 2007 will be to test drive this service.

If google wants to compete with Yahoo, than I think they should sell domains with cheaper price or maybe become a registar itself other than working with enom or GoDaddy.
