Google Safe Browsing (BETA)

Google just released the Google Safe Browsing (BETA) extension for FireFox. I just downloaded it, I'll try it later (have too many tabs open in FireFox right now and don't want to restart). :)

Google Safe Browsing is an extension to Firefox that alerts you if a web page that you visit appears to be asking for your personal or financial information under false pretences. This type of attack, known as phishing or spoofing, is becoming more sophisticated, widespread and dangerous. That's why it's important to browse safely with Google Safe Browsing. By combining advanced algorithms with reports about misleading pages from a number of sources, Safe Browsing is often able to automatically warn you when you encounter a page that's trying to trick you into disclosing personal information.

For more information, see the FAQ.

Well FireFox is fine IMHO... But this Google 'safe' browsing could be a little controvertial, especially with many people suspicions about Google AdSense 'false clicks' slaughter :D

look at the privacy policy...

Google will not associate the information that Safe Browsing logs with other personal information about you. However, it is possible that a URL or other page information sent to Google may itself contain personal information.

New way for Google to get your CC #.
lol, nice post, and unfortunately :( ... you could be right!

First, it'd be helpful if droplister could cite this:

...and link us up.

Care to explain why you don't trust Firefox? Ever had your security or privacy compromised because of it? You can't just say it's "not safe" when you can't prove it.
