Google pagerank - What bearing does it have on resale prices?

Hi,

I picked up a random LNN.com around a week ago for $65 and was aiming to resell it at maybe a $15 profit. However, I've just realised that it has a PR of 5. I'm guessing this will have a bearing on what I can get for it but I have no idea how much extra a PR 5 domain should fetch.

Is there a general rule of thumb for pricing pageranked domains? If so can someone share?

Thanks!

Simon

I don't know a specific pricing, but certainly a domain with an established PR (especially one as high as 5) makes it more desirable to the buyer. There's probably already some sort of Adsense or mini-site there, right? That makes it more of a presentation, rather than just an empty domain name.

No content, just the domain - it's currently parked. Used to be a developed site so still has a pagerank I picked it up at auction when it dropped. I also have a couple of parked LLL.orgs with PR4 as well.

I would say yes, a good Pagerank specially PR5 would definitely have a bearing on the domain's resale price, by how much it's value will increase would depend on the name also.

i hope PR drops to 0 when content and hosting IP changed

Why? There is no content anyway - it's parked..

I agree to get an overall figure I guess you add the value of the PR with the value of the domain.. You see lots of people in the wanted section posting things like "wanted PR 4 domain" and they don't seem to care what the name is so there must be a general going rate for PR alone - anyone know what this is?

Thanks!

The PR will soon drop. And because of this the PR is no longer relevant.
Forget the PR thing in estimating a sales price of this particular domain.
People will remove their links soon enough plus the content is zero so the google spider will surely raise some red flags.

And selling a site as a PR 5 that is only a perception of a being PR 5 is kind of immoral don't you think? ;)

It appears that this particular domain hasn't been a live website since Feb 2005. I have also have 2 PR4 domains which haven't been live sites for over 14 months so it doesn't seem to drop that quickly.. Anyway, thanks for your feedback..
