Google launches web browser

It is called Google Chrome and will be launched tomorrow.

I'm using it right now. The tabs are placed strangely at the absolute top of the screen so I nearly have to duck down to see them.

Also, it highlights input fields when they're active, so that makes it quite difficult to have a nicely styled form in CSS if you're taking advantage of background images.

Is it rendering valid code properly or is it sloppy like IE?

EDIT - okay I installed on one of my machines and it's not all bad. I tested it on two websites I am working on that have rendering problems in IE but not FF or Safari which almost always renders valid strict code properly unlike IE... but anyways google's ugly duckling rendered it perfectly.

Google gets it right out of the gate (rendering code) and MS has had all these years and still can't get it done. MS deserves to be driven out of business imo.

I believe Google Chrome renders websites the exact same as Safari since it uses the same webkit (or something like that).

it runs off of webkit which is the same as what Safari runs under. If your sites work in Safari then they will work in Chrome.

Using it now.. it's really fast but I see Moola.com won't recognize the browser so I can't play games!

I would prefer incognito by default, I do not like my browser recording everything I do all the time (google world domination).

Still I will investigate and use it a bit but probably stay with FF3 as my main browser.

before you know it, people will have written a plethora of ad-ons or plug ins. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the Google Gadgets are being converted in one way or another.

Until they have something to offer that no other browser can do, there's no reason to even think about leaving FF. (for me anyways)

i just tried it, and i agree that its ridiculously fast. the whole animated aspect of eye candy is nice, like the new tab makes it slide out rather than just appearing, and the task managers "stats for nerds" is pretty cool since it watches for IE, FF, etc.

only problem is with each new tab its like lol new 20mb process. i mean, i have 1.5 gb ram so i don't notice any degradation of quality, but at times when i have 50 tabs open and firefox hits 300 mb memory, i can see chrome being MUCH worse.



also, does chrome have any special significance with web browsers? the firefox framework (or w/e its called) is also called chrome, like if you were to make an addon you call stuff like chrome://blah.

Its super fast. I guess thats coz its light weighted than FF since this has no plugins and stuff.

Speedy but so far, moola.com and pogo.com won't recognize the fact I have flash or java installed when I use Chrome.. won't let me play the games!
