I've just been browsing on Sedo and found that the domain name
google.com is for sale, how can this be? , just go to Sedos home page and look at their most wanted, it is number 1 ( unsuprisingly).

Obviously Google aren't selling it, just curious ,can anyone offer some thoughts please.

Thanks

Someone must have listed it to be funny. Sedo caught it, and removed it.

There simply isnt enough money in the world to buy that domain. You dont have to prove you own the domain to list it for sale on places like that, so anyone can sign up and claim to be selling it really...

Seems crazy, i thought they had to check the domain ownership before listing.

But while we are on the subject, why haven't Google sent a C&D letter to all those other google cctld's listed on Sedo?

They usually do verify, but some slip through I suppose.

I don't think that Google cares about sending out C&D Letters to Google cybersquaters. Our company had a "Google" domain last year and had it parked and guess who showed up on the parked page! That's right, Google.
All the Google cybersquaters are doing is making Google bigger.

By propogating their name all over the Internet and then having it redirect to Google, the cybersquaters have helped out Google and made some $$. These are domains that Google would have had to eventually purchase, but what the heck, let someone else spend the cash!
