Google Analytics

Hi Everyone,

I would like to make a general inquiry about what Google Analytics is all avout. I received an invitation but I have no idea what services they provide. I do not use AdWords. I am wondering whether I should use my invite code or just sell it. What can GA do for me? Their site is very vague. Does it track hits to domains?

Its a complex web analytics program. I'm not sure if you've ever used Urchin, but it is essentially the same thing, as Google Analytics came from Google's purchase of Urchin. It tracks traffic in many different ways, and gives you reports that analyze your traffic.

I'd recommend trying it out.

I actually kinda like awstats better. With GA, you have to place a code on each individual page, which is annoying.

I received my invitation code today and currently paste the code into every page. A bit annoying but I guess it will give me more info on the traffic etc.

Lets see if it is better then a tracker like etracker or others?

I pulled Google Analytics off my blogs because it was slowing down my load time. Im sticking with sitemeter and AWStats.

the only anooying thing is the load time, put the code at the bottom of the page

You realize google can potentially see your stats once you put the codes on

how long is the load time? and I have no idea what AWstats is either...

Also, I do not care about them seeimg my stats, I do not use AdSense or AdWords so it is irrelvant to me what they can see.. Right?

It was at the bottom and still slowing the whole page. For all the hype its not that great.

Doesn't seem to be slowing my pages at all. Really quite pleased with it but it doesn't track when search engines crawl the site, although i'm not sure if it can?

Still, it's got some very complex stats there and i don't use half of them! The Flash Graphs etc. are rather cool :p

I think Google has just sent out a bunch of invites. Whereas in previous weeks I've seen people trading or even selling the invites for $10-20, there are now people giving them for free.

It's a great program, but I still look at AWstats as well. The referrers section is clearer somehow.

awstats.com looks like a landing/parking page to me. Is it the right page? How is it used?
