Google Analytics. Where to put it?

I have tried to put the analytics code into www.VideoFanatics.com 3 times now. You can clearly see it is in there? lol. Right where google tells you to put it.

Can someone tell me where it should really go? It does not read. I always seem to get this? Tracking Not Installed (Last checked: 2008-03-02 6:43 AM PST.)


Please advise. Thanks.

stats update once a day... so give it a full day without changing anything.

have you given it a full 24 hours first? if you keep taking it out and put it back in a million times a day it will never fully register.

I just put it in my footer (just right before </body>) and it works

You have placed on the beginning of the body tag, which is fine, but it will be better if it will be before the /body tag

If you are still having problems try an Include file

With dynamic php pages, I've always had to put the tracking code in a separate PHP file and then do an include_once in my main page right before the closing </body> tag

example:
<?php include_once("trackingcode.php")?>

I am not sure how neccesary that is but it was the only way I could get it to work correctly on my site. As others have mentioned, Google Analytics is not immediate. If you want instant tracking stats, give StatCounter.com a try. Their code works well with PHP pages.

Google Analytics Should be put before

</body>

its good to put it in your footer.php file if you do have that in your site.

i'd also like you to try Clicky you can read more about this great new service on my post by Clicking Here.

Clicky is much like Google's Analytics but designed to be very simple for users to understand, it has some many added features plus therre are dozens of PRO features which are for paid members But i would really recommend everyone to use this service.. 1 try wont hurt and i'm pretty sure you will like it
