Hi,

I have started to build www.riddlepit.com and probably concentrating on www.riddlepit.com/forum/. I have few questions regarding Adsense:
- would it make sense? Not money-wise, but getting visibility in Google.
- is it possible with the tools used (Wordpress, Simplemachine-forums)?

Thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Adsense does not specifically aid in getting indexed better by Google because Adsense uses a different bot then the bot for content.

Using Wordpress and Adsense is a breeze, you have various plugins listed here which you can explore.
The top ones can help you with adding Adsense to your blog.

See how Namepros uses URL optimisation (above in your address bar). This is more SEO friendly than most regular forum php URLS.

Thanks again for the information and suggestions. Vbulletin is just too expensive for me.
I'll try this out with free forum and no ads. I hope the backlinking helps to get more visibility in search engines. Anyways this was a great learning experience!

Thanks guys. I already managed to get higher Google visibility with terms I wanted: "riddlepit" and "webriddle". This was possible with few backlinks to other riddler-forums mainly. I did submit the site to dmoz.org so lets see what that brings.

Next target will be tougher: better visibility with more common words like "riddle", "riddle forum", "riddle blog". I need to concentre on unique content which is challenging. There are quite a few riddle-sites around and my free forum is not SEO-friendly.

Further comments would be great. Back to work.

If you have some time on your hands, try to visit some SEO blogs and forums in your free time and search those forums to find answers for questions you may have.

A lot of answers are already answered before ;)
Do some keyword research to find the words/phrases people are using to find content related to your site and optimize your site towards those searches.

Learn about, "On page SEO" and "Off page SEO" to start learning what you can do to move your position up in the SERPs.
