i can say that this site never monetize and may be its plus, but you have very many variants for revenue (for simply - its sale link and good and strong PR can help you, but i think you know many more effective variants - see TOP10, for example pacificislands.com, or use another)

now its 18-20 visitors in day, but last time site was in down, and when site 3 week was online - he quick go to TOP10 and now at 4-8 place for US SERP, i don't have time for development this site, but i see excellent potential for TOP 1-3 if little additional development
