What does everyone think?

We plan on developing it in to an automated backup type service.

I think it is an excellent keyword combo, popular search string...

I think the price was reasonable, especially considering .com and you are planning to develop it. I think you could sell it later at a higher price to an end-user.

I have backup.info. Spent some time on it a while back, but development got distracted...

I agree with the term used above to describe the price. It was "reasonable". This is a nice domain and is perfect for the type of site you plan to develop. Good luck with your website building.

people do. remote ( offsite ) backup is a critical component of any proper backup plan.
lots of companies offer this.

here are a few mainly consumer focused companies:
jungledisk.com ( a GUI for amazon.com/s3 )
mozy.com
carbonite.com
idrive.com

If you're planning on developing your own online backup solution, then 3K is going to be a fraction of your overall investment. 3K well spent in that case.
