As a name, i think people are getting a bit carried away. You see the thing about golf is your earning potential is more limited than many other areas of business in an online environment. Additionally, although golf is a very popular hobby, with a lot of "well off" players, a large no. of players are generally from the older demographic and are less likely to buy online. More importantly, a lot of "golf gear" is hands-on. Clubs and stuff you want to try before you buy, get adjustments, different shafts, leveraged angled heads etc etc, to suit how you play. Golf bags you want to hold, feel the weight, see the pockets available etc.
Thus a lot of the revenue will be in the advertising, and to get advertising, you need a sales team, which has a large overhead.
Yes its worth some, but the real value is at the business end. As a domain name, i'd say $500k tops as you will need to sink a lot more money in to marketing to get the financial rewards in such a "hands-on" game. As a business it will be a multiple of the revenue, perhaps 24 - 36 months turnover or 48 - 60 months profit, at a guess.
