Dyw.com was owned by Time Inc Uk Ltd. and registered at Enom. The domain name was allowed to expire and closed at $55,001 at GoDaddy auctions. One problem, GoDaddy did not collect the $55,001. The domain name was allowed to drop and it was caught at NameJet and closed today for $41,000. I don’t get […]

I realize GoDaddy is a large company and $55,000 is a rounding error, but I think domain investors and stock investors would like them to collect $55,000 especially on a 3L.com.

a rounding error :ROFL::xf.cry:

GD spent half a bill stock buybacks

It’s like watching half a billion dollars burn.

UniRegistry, actually cost less than buybacks

What about SnapNames/NameJet? If no one pays, do they drop it like GD?

Snap’s best way; #2 highest bid; option to buy.
Snap backorders to private auctions also nice.

DropCatch keeps reauctioning off like a circus

Unsure, about NameJet, i dont like / use them.

Yes DropCatch will just reauction over and over there was one last year I think it was like 6 times.

Because GoDaddy's business processes are designed around being a registrar/hosting business, treating a $100K domain purchase exactly the same as a $50 hosting package, and I feel they may be being abused to create wealth in the dropcatch arena.

GD needs to shorten the XX-days to pay limit on aftermarket domains, push that domain down the bidder list much quicker, and make sure fake bidders cannot keep stalling on payments and thereby ensure that the domain expires and drops. The key is that deadbeats and stallers are costing the company significant money, yet GD does absolutely nothing to stop it.

There is a LOT of money at stake. Give me a month at GD and I'd have their business processes in a lot better shape, and making more money.

It's totally different, as Snap has now registered and owns the domain, so they have a year to figure it out.

GoDaddy is running on "expiring time" and as per their contracts and ICANN policy, it only has a short period to collect the $$$ and sell the domain.

As such, any buyer funny business + the lax processes at GD = the domain expires.
