GoDaddyGoDaddy
My main registrar is Arvixe which has astounding support services. They accept any domains and any type of content (as long as it stays reasonable) and their hosting is also pretty good. Privacy protection is also free which is a plus. There's no coupons needed... You always get competitive prices.

I preferred local hosting for now as it provides a better ping and more personalized services.

GoDaddy works well too, but they tend to be pricier after the first year even with coupons. I do register ideas for 2-3$ with them the first year. But, I don't keep domains with them long-term.

I use Namecheap seldomly on domain drops or trades. It works. Can't tell much more.

@myleene - I personally would separate my registrar and my hosting, because if you have a problem with hosting (for whatever reason) and they suspend your account, then oftentimes you find you are unable to transfer your domains to another registrar and you have to pay whatever you have been billed (whether you agree to the charge or not) to get your account in order, before you can transfer your domains out. With your hosting and registrations separated, this can never happen.

Separating it is indeed a really good idea.

I do it by having my hosting locally and my registrar being elsewhere. My hosting is totally separate from my domains currently.

I've never had any problems though and I've not yet had a UDRP or anything similar too. It's really a good idea to check their policy on this before you start developing. Some friends had some horror stories.

Keep in mind that many hosting companies that offer domain registration services are not accredited ICAAN registrars, but resellers.

This might not be of concern to most average users, however I've seen issues arise when dealing with hosting companies and resellers alike, including what Stub has pointed out.

Also, when registering through hosting companies, it's important to make sure the domains' whois are actually showing you as the registrant, and not the hosting company.

Getting back to the OP's question, I use both GD and NC, whichever has the deals on at the time I want to register a domain.

However, GD gets the edge for me, as their coupons are never ending and selling through their marketplace has been smooth and profitable for me.

I'm not familiar with risks on non-accredited ICANN registrars.

Arvixe isn't. And several of my domains are with them. I would like more informations please.

Oh. I thought you said you used Arvixe for both your registrar and for hosting. Hence my comment.

I use GoDaddy for the most part, it just works out cheapest. I have my own white-label of GoDaddy (EzyAddress.com) which is set at the lowest possible prices - but that's a bit confusing for when it comes time to sell.

For my bestest domains, and those that I could have legal troubles with, I go with NameCheap because I trust them much more than GD and it costs only $1-2 more per domain/year.

BTW, most registrars are cheaper if you have hundreds of domains with them. This is the case for me with GD and NameCheap

Yeah, that part wasn't really clear.

I did use them at first for some minor development as their prices are really good, but I quickly decided to not renew my hosting as I'm from Canada and pings weren't that good when I did more intensive changes (the 0.2s delay bugged me... I know it may be only me lol).

I decided to cancel it and stay only at my current local hosting which is less than 50km from me and is also quite smaller. Support is more responsive and available for special requests talked over the phone or by ticketing.
