registrars GoDaddy opens up shop in Australia

Domain Name Registration & Hosting company GoDaddy.com has opened up shop in Australia. This adds yet another arm to the worlds largest domain name registration service with offices already established in USA, UK, Amsterdam, Singapore & India already setup. GoDaddy has been the leader in the USA for many years however in other countries local domain registration has been stronger with local brands i.e the UK 123-Reg.co.uk has been setup for a long time and still represent a large market share of the .co.uk domain name registrations, I would suspect that GoDaddy hopes to grow their local CCTLD and new GTLD’s in Australia while also pushing their hosting business having local support based in the country...

About time. A good move on GoDaddy's part. Assuming prices are competitive. I don't believe they need $0.99 coupons to conquer the world. They take up resources. So they are worthwhile, when they have capacity to spare, but a burden when capacity is tight.

Godaddy already opened shops in India also. So no wonder to open up in Australia.
1and1 also stopped 99cent domains ( now limit 1 only / account)
So will not effect much.

But.. uniregistry is coming up with with $10.88 renewals, transfers and new.
(I forgot I missed a mail that it is $8.88 / domain if bulk)

Also Whois privacy is free of charge at uniregistry.

Their domain transfer system is unique and perfect.
