advice GoDaddy locked my account

hi guys ..
i signed up for godaddy..Purchased a new domain ..then my account has been disabled..and i have to provide Government-Issued Identification .. driver's license or passport to unlock it !
I can't provide these private information ..it's very personal .
what should i do other than that ?
if i create a new account ..and pay via paypal..will that happen again ?
will that happen with another provider ?

GoDaddy is bullshit.

What's wrong with giving out ID Card or driver license? Most of the people do that.

If you open a new account, they may terminate your account and suspend your domain.

If you are from OFAC countries, forget the domain and try another registerar like Resello.com or Internet.bs.

i'm interested in flipping domains..will transfering process be easy with them in the future ?

I use Resello.com and there is no problem with using VPN in this registrar.

Transfering domains between resellers in Resello is free by authorization code. But if you want to move from another registrar to Resello, you have to pay the transfer fee.

Also, you have to send your ID Card to the company for verify your account.

Each provider has its own policies and their own fraud verification systems. You will often find that if your order is flagged you will often be required to send an ID proof. Is there any particular reason you insist on not providing such apart from fear of the security of your personal info? Because most reputable companies have taken many precautions to ensure a solid encryption of the data and have personal data agreements.

This is exactly the reason companies will often refuse to tell you the reason why your order was flagged. Because:

a/ you will learn how to exploit the system
b/ you will just go around in a forum and get a list of companies and their levels of security

Both of the above would not do well any provider.

It really seems like you want " to get away " with doing something illicit. Just my opinion obviously
I don't use VPN and it would be interesting to see if any other pros who use it had the same issue.

In general, if you are seriously interested in this business, you need to have some official documents at hand and be able to provide them when necessary.

I also don't like sending my photo and private details all over the world but I made my mind and decided that there is no way around it. The more trustworthy you prove to be , the smoother your dealings will be.

Just don't overdo it. Look at what happened to me. I accidentally used my real name when I was signing for this forum and I can't change it!

Anyway, just show them your government ID if you really want to get your domain back.

Go to Account Upgrades page. You can change your username by getting business account.

• User name change (upon request; 1 time while a business member)

Watch out for Resello.com it is a scam website.
They took money and refused to refund their clients

What GoDaddy did is what they always do. All hundreds or thousands of people on this forum have passed through this and gave to GD their IDs and credit card photos. Choose whether you need GoDaddy for your domaining business or not. If you need them (and you probably do), play by their rules and you will be OK.

Most other registrars are not that strict.
