Everyone says how bad the hosting services of GoDaddy are, but I still wanted to try them, since they're quite cheap and I dont need a super-professional service for a few projects.
However, before even trying the service itself I found out their hosting plans make no sense at all.
To summarize: deluxe hosting plan must have a primary domain, whose root directory permissions cant be modified. And even being multidomain, all the email accounts must be related to the primary domain. Can you believe that??
I couldnt, so I had to ask. I attach a couple of conversations with their support staff:
So, after all said and done, the conclusion is: NOT GODADDY, NOT GODADDY!!
I hope this helps some to save some bucks (deluxe is $6.95 a month).

Hi,
In my Hosting Manager under "Directory Management" I can edit the permissions (read, write...) of my custom directories.
However, how can I set the permissions for the content root? The thing
is I have an access database there and it wont let me write anything on it.
Thanks,
David

Dear David,
Thank you for contacting customer support. Unfortunately, if you are on our shared hosting, it is not possible to modify the permissions for the root. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. If you need root access you may wish to consider our Dedicated or Virtual Dedicated Hosting. Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

Hi,
I have a hosting plan (Deluxe) at GoDaddy which includes 1,000 email accounts and unlimited domains.
However, after going round and round and reading all the related topics in the Help files I cant find how to create a single email account.
1. Do I have to use one of those credits for free emails with hosting?
2. The email accounts must use the main domain of the hosting account? I have added several domains and I want them to have their own email account.
It all looks quite complicated, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

So, just to clarify I understood everything right:
GoDaddy Deluxe hosting plan is multidomain (for unlimited sites and
domains), includes 1,000 email accounts, but the 1,000 of those are to be
related to only 1 domain (the primary one) no matter how many other I have
in the same hosting plan.
Is that correct???
If that strange thing is correct, I will have to say bye bye GoDaddy (this
is the most unreasonable and unpractical thing I have ever heard in hosting
plans)
Im astonished.
Please confirm (I had to ask twice and probably you too, that is just
unbelievable).

Dear David,
Thank you for contacting Online Support. We appreciate
Currently, this is correct the emails would only be useable for the primary domain on the hosting. We apologize for any inconveniences this might cause.
Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.
