Is anyone else using GoDaddy domain backorders? I bought my first one yesterday to give them a try. At $18.95, the price is right if they can beat Snapnames once in awhile.

I joined their reseller program hoping to offer them at a discount on the forum, but they don't allow pricing for less than $18.95. I'll make another offer available to NP members in the ad forum.

I posted this in another forum but thought I would add it here:
Just to put in my own experience using Godaddy. With me just starting with them, I am 5 snags for 6 attempts so far. 3 of them were beating a matching snap attempt at NW, one of which I was out bid at $100. Saved me a few $$$ there.

Do you think the "success" of the GDaddy back order, is only reflective of names which are held in their registry? or are they also being able to grab names from other registrars as well? Just curious.

i lost one of my snaps to godaddy a few days ago. It was real bummer

Sounds like they're starting to be real competition to Snapnames.

They also have 2 types. The $18.95 snap and the $29.95 monthly Investors Edge + $7.95 per domain whether you get the name or not program. I have only used the Investors Edge program so far. I will pick up a couple of the yearly snaps and see if there is a difference.

GD support told me their investor's edge BOs are much better than their $18.95 BOs. I've used both and have yet to catch a name. Maybe they are gettign better, but I got refunds for all but one of my BOs out of frustration.

I wish these snap vendors were required to post their catch percentages. If there was a way to get a feed of the names they attempt and succeed at, and join those in a central table someplace, it'd be an immensely valuable tool.

Hi all.

I bought my 1st Godaddy BO 2 weeks ago.
I have ordered it for a name that had "Snapback" on it too (not mine!), just to check out Godaddy's quality/speed. And guess what, it snapped it! 1 of 1. (It was a very good name).

But after that, 8 failures.
Maybe it was a beginners luck for me, dont know.
But i like gambling though, so... .-)))

Well so far, with Investors Edge this week, I am 7 of 9. Not to shabby of an average. (The 2 failed today)

Quick edit.

Email just came in and 1 of the 2 was caught for me by Club Drop. :hehe:

Did Godaddy increase their prices on backorders? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I saw them for $40.

Nevermind, it was just the pricing on a resellers page.

Let me add that last night and tonight GD did not snap either 1 of my 4 backorders :( . Score is now 12 failures in a row.
Total: 1 out of 13 attempts (7,7%) .

I'm more and more convinced that GD's BOs are just to waist money and time.

Sad but true.

I offer Godaddy Backorders for $12.30 each. Please see my signature.

Paying $12.30 each is definitely worth a 1 year shot at beating snapnames, and includes the reg fee. I also offer Investors Edge for $20.50.

All of this plus:
.com .net .org .info registrations for $7.43
.us .biz registrations for $5.20

and discounts on every product at www.Domainut.com

Simply Order a free WebForward to open an account, and send $10 via paypal to [email protected] and I will activate discounts on your account.

BTW, Godaddy is 24 out of 57 for me so far. And 16 of those names had Snaps. Many of you have been Appraising my godaddy catches on this forum, and 90% of them have been appraised to be far more than $12.30.

Domainnut, let me show you 1 post:

do NOT use godaddy backordering

Hi all
Since godaddy is my fav registrar i bought 4 backorderings from them. (am i idiot or what?) since it is not well known i can backorder on good pending delete domains that has snaps and NW. godaddy always failed, i changed domains after nearly 20 unsucceded tries, i tried a silly thing, just to make sure their backorderin system is working. i backordered a no value domain. it was in Turkish, or course no snaps no NW and infact nobody except me . Than on the drop date i tried manually with my 56k modem to register it. Guess what? I registered it. Godaddy couldnt beat me. So listen to me and do not waste your money with them.
also u can check the below list there is NO godaddy grabbed domain.

Well I've got 24 names sitting in my godaddy account that beg to differ. 16 of which had snaps, and NW bids. But I realize these are $50-300 names in my eye, and others here at this forum. I don't go for huge names with godaddy unless I have a few backorders left over. In my opinion, and I am sure others here, spending $12.30 is worth catching any name worth $50 or more.

I use an enom drop catcher on my home PC also and have beaten them two times, but they have beaten me 24 times. Maybe if your chasing topdrops with godaddy, that may be the problem.

I think that they are smart enough to realize that they are new to the game, need to get their daily routine, strategy, and times down before competing with the bigdogs, and are focusing on the mediocre names to keep people coming back.

Below are a few names and links to the appraisals of the names Godaddy Has caught recently for me. As I stated they are nothing great, but well worth my $12.

Imperfect.NET
LYNDSEY.NET
KINGSFORD.NET
PETSHOWS.NET
RENTAHOUSE.NET
SEXPOT.NET
CARDNIGHT.COM
TIMID.NET
THECHEATER.COM

I disagree with your opinion, and if they have done so badly for you, I definitely understand it. But from my own personal experience, the $500 that I have invested so far, has been worth it, and I still have 33 Backorders left.

No, they did not do anything badly to me, just they are incapable of catching domains that are worth anything above 100$. Therefore i agree with opinion stated in quoted post.

Many domains like LYNDSEY.NET or KINGSFORD.NET (for example!)can be snapped by hands, and i do not want to spend 20$ on something i can do manualy.

I was hoping that their service is at least good as lower quality snappers (submissions 1/3 or 1/4 second) but it seems that i was wrong.

I bet i could beat them easily with some low end script like 1 on www.dnware.com ... And that is not what i want from GD BO.

Okay, I stumbled into an industry (backordering). 1) How do I tell how many services are going after the domain name when it becomes available and 2) how do I get estimates on what the domain name is worth?

1) You could check every service and see if the domain is available to backorder or if there are any bids on it, if you really wanted to know.
2) See the appraisals thread.
