250 Gigs of transfer with 5 gigs of space for $4 a month... Me = happy :)

I love our hosts that hang out on NP (Especially Polurnet, I have hosting with them and have been most impressed), but I don't know how they will respond to this move.
On a price/value comparison, there is something to be said for going with a known quantity/quality (GoDaddy). I've had 100% uptime at GoDaddy, and with the "pay by the year" discount, pay about $30 a year for 250 gigs of transfer a month...
Right now, the specific value that the non-GoDaddy hosts offer to me is the ability to "addon" domains that GoDaddy doesn't offer on the shared plans.

In the meantime, I will keep all my accounts, but for b/w intensive sites.... it's hard to beat that deal.

Wow, I must say that is a major, and HUGE improvement of their current webhosting offerings. Although they might have been good in the past with their modest prices, I think now you'll see perhaps negative server performance issues: they will surely attract more potential customers, thereby overloading their servers to it's maximum capacity and that may result of course in negative side effects.

However, if they can actually prove that they'll keep up with the demand and actually take a good share in the webhosting market by having anti-overselling policies and reliable uptime/live support, then it is something to eventually think about for current webhosting companies. But based on the historical facts that most domain registrars are extremely lacking in the webhosting side business they have, I doubt it will change dramatically here unless they concentrate equally on the new offers.

Let us know how it goes! B-) (still try to keep your polurnet account to compare :hehe: )

I wouldn't consider this much of an improvement as I've seen lots of complaints about godaddy hosting and to be honest, this is the first compliment I've read. But either way I am glad your happy :)

Curious about the complaints... type/manner?

It is somewhat bare-bones on fantastico-type features, but those aren't particularly necessary....

WHT is going on a rampage about this, take a look there for what they say is the bad side... apparently they have overselling policies now, despite not resolving the slow server speeds customers are complaining about

Keep in mind thought that most of these complainers at WHT have 1-2 posts and haven't provided evidence they are hosted with GoDaddy.

Personally looking at a non-biased point of view if I was hosted with GoDaddy I'd be gone in a second. This is majorly high overselling and will eventually lead to worse performances rather than better performances for the current and future clients.

With the current standard prices are at ~+$0.30/GB. Which means they are actually going to be losing rather than gaining anything. As mentioned above servers will be overstuffed at most likely 1,000 clients per server. I have a buddy who's hosting at dreamhost with a shell account and he looked up how many clients were hosted and his server is currently at 1,032 from what he told me this morning (although he also complains about the performance as well).

I had Godaddy hosting and it was terrible. At times the server was so overloaded that my sites were unusable. Granted this was a couple years ago and may have gotten better now. I doubt it though to me this just looks like even worse overselling then before.

Same

GoDaddy hosting have bad reviews at WHT - complaining about slow server and poor support, because of overselling.

Domain registrars that sell hosting are BAD hosters
Agreed

Not a thing will change with PolurNet or eRudNet or ChronicHost or Who ever else owns a hosting company on namepros replace this with your company name.

Because the reason behind PolurNet, eRudNet,etc is to provide 1 on 1 support with our customers and provide quality web hosting. 20000GB of bandwidth is nothing if you need help and their is nobody there. As many people know the best web host is one who is willing and has the knowledge to do stuff for you. If you have an error with Mambo.. He can fix it.. That is why people say the extra 3$ a month for 10GB less. Because they need people to help them. If you actually think of it. Look at LayeredTech.com servers cost 100$ for 1000GB of bandwidth (Those are low end ones) and goDaddy is giving you 250GB of that for 4$.. Let me see
250GB-1000GB = 750GB
4$-100$ = 96$

Hrm.. That says to me they can only host 4 accounts per a server with server costs of 100$+ 4*4 = 16 - 100 = 84.. They are out 84$+.. That to me seems like they may be doing something. Could it be jaming 50 accounts on one server with this package and if you use more than 10GB of bandwidth suspend you?

Possibly.

Best beat would be to backup your files. On your computer daily.. Never know when they may say. 4$ is nothing.. Good Bye!

My comments.

To say not a thing will change with us is incorrect. Things will change and have changed. We have changed numerous things, such as increasing bandwidth to our customers for free, lower response time guarantees, and better pricing on things. For instance we went from having a 300 minute guarantee to less then half of that, 120 minute guarantee.

That being said, I am sure you meant things will no change in terms of getting worse service. They will only get better...

Hmm. Most hosts I would say are overselling. Even with godaddy making most of their money from domain names, I would still think they are overselling :P

Considering the cheapest bandwidth you can get is $20 per mb (and thats on a 1 Gbps committ)...thats $20 per 300 gb bandwidth...so yeah, its overselling.

Meaning, in the world of actual business hosting: they are selling a lot more bandwidth then they actually have the capacity to produce.

Sorry, what does it mean, WHT ?

Well.. Than it doesn't apply to you. But the way you put that out sounds like you where "advertising". I don't really need to know what you have changed. A simple we are changing works fine.

I highly doubt increasing diskspace and bandwidth will only make them better. Because there is no way it will. People see that and they will start buying and abusing the service. They will start putting bandwidth wasting PHP-Nuke sites on there and Paid to Click Search Engines.. You will probley never be able to access your site in about a month.. Because they would have jammed 400 sites on one server and the server will probley crash and probley won't come back online... Blah Blah Blah..

Anyways.. Most small companies try not to compete with GoDaddy, Site5,etc.. Because they can't..

WHT is WebHostingTalk.com probley the largest web hosting talk board there is online.
