April 12, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host and domain name provider Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com) has introduced an “internationalized domain name service”, the company announced this week. The service will allow users to register domains in more than 100 native languages.

Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) are “expressed in a native language”, avoiding difficulties that sometimes occur when domain names made up of western characters are used to represent languages which contain characters that are not supported by Internet browsers (i.e. Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic). Go Daddy has made IDNs available for .com and .net domain names, and has plans for .info IDNs later in April. A range of GoDaddy.com products such as web-based email and web hosting packages support non-Western language-based characters.

"GoDaddy.com is committed to making it easier for consumers all over the world to navigate domain names," suggested Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy.com. "With Internationalized Domain Names, users can find what they need in their own language."

Alongside domain names and web hosts Go Daddy offers a range of services including SSL certificates, domains by proxy private registration, ecommerce website hosting, blog templates and blog software, podcast packages and online photo hosting. The company caters for 28 million domain names.

Wow. Only took them about two years. Actually I expect the number of IDN's to increase since so many users go to godaddy.
