GoDaddy Closeouts Auction

I have a question regarding the GoDaddy Closeout that I can't quite figure out. What happens to a domain when the close out ends?

It seems like after the auction ends it's relisted at a lower BIN price at GoDaddy until it's $5 then it disappears. After this I assume it would be available to be registered, but it seem like it becomes taken. I follow multiple domains it seems to be all the same. Where do these domains go if no one buys them?

no, the domain is not in redemption period.

the domains in closeout (and others expired) are in the renew grace period.

the closeout domains are in the last week of that period and did not get any bids during the period where GoDaddy places them in auction.

if you don't buy it in the closeout the domain will be put in redemption period about 2 days later.

don't be greedy for 5 or 10 bucks

@Josytal - I would love to know about domain age - I see it as a feature of auction listings, yet why? I am sure domainers view it differently than end users, plus History and continuous Age are different, you could likely sell and end user on the idea of history even if it was a drop

Age is a strong selling point to end-user, especially if the domain name is not premium. Any SEO guy will tell you this.
The final purpose of domains are, after all, websites.

I personally dont believe age matters very much anymore.

Perhaps not to us as domainers. To the search engines and SEO guys, age does matter. It's not easy for a website with new domain name to rank well with search engines. The "TRUST" factor.

Didn't know where were coupons for closesout or auctions. I tried many, not one worked.

It is the best place. Affiliate sites post codes that are old, don't work, or are for first time purchases.

OK two questions:

1] since @YaaDoo already has Discount Club, then that is lowest price for the reg fee and no coupon will ever work, correct?

2] Also then on the actual price of the auction no coupon would ever apply, even for $5-11 closeouts, correct?


@Haroon Basha - how often are you trying to use the code?

I *think* I have used CJCRMN35 three times this year, I just looked at my history, I got 35% off auction renew com on 1/23, 2/6 and 4/17 and once in 2015, yet it only shows 5.25 saved, not what coupon code I used. And never a discount on the auction cost.

I pay more for registration with some of my API registrars that I use for catching, I chalk that up to benefit of catching a better name, or set it and forget it, so I don't have to snipe it manually.

@usernamex It seems to be so for me. No coupon code works for me when I have the discount club. And the coupons don't work for the auctions as well. Though the one I they send you after a purchase $75+ for 25% off does seem to work for auction closeouts ex the domain reg fee so you need to buy like a lot of domains at once in close out.

The 5% rebate seems to always work though on everything. It should work on top of any coupon codes you use as well.
