GODADDY CHARGING TAXES NOT JUST ICANN FEE

I would just like to find out if anyone else on here is experiencing ,when purchasing through GoDaddy Auctions you are being charged Taxes & Fees .

I in the past I would pay the auction price plus the ICAN fee and renewal ,I have noticed now they charge taxes and this is very difficult to budget as you think its an amount then you get these high tax which throws your budget out .

Is there away around this or maybe I just will have to look to purchase from Sedo or Namejet as this is a problem ,How can you budget cause you do not know how much the taxes will be ?
Please your feedback and advice would be much appreciated.

High taxes?

As per legislation any large company will have to charge taxes anyway, taxes should be your local taxes.... Not a lot.

In any case, all most will be charging taxes soon if not already if in the United States.

Well I feel its high cause I was not paying any taxes before just the ,renewal and ICANN Fee

Example on a +- $1700 purchase can be around $250 +- Taxes also I am not a company I am an Individual trading in my personal capacity

For an auction? Or are you talking hundreds of domains? If so yes needs to be taken into account.

Well thats what I do not understand ,I Purchase currently from South Africa ,

Yes, that happened to me recently, it started few weeks ago. Price for each domain on Godaddy is now like 30% higher because of the VAT.
I was paying only ICANN Fee before.

Sorry to bump an oldy, but this is true.

Used to get \ renew a domain name for £7.10 before a price increase. Then £8.10.

Now with VAT one renew or new domain costs me £9.72.

Result is overheads are up, now approx £1,000 a year for 100 names (rounded up for ease) compared to £710 a year or so back.

Tough times indeed.

Godaddy is a ripoff. I never reg names with them anymore

I also get charged an additional 20% on Godaddy purchases, I only tend to buy names for under $100 now unless I really need a specific name.

To my knowledge, if you're a vat registered company I believe you can claim back the tax.
